You may have missed this piece of news, but a week ago, a Qatar Airways plane caught fire on the tarmac in Doha. The plane involved was a Qatar Airways Airbus A321.

The cause? An in-flight entertainment satellite antenna, apparently when the plane was undergoing maintenance. Unbelievably, this antenna burst into flames and the fire ate it’s way through the cabin and the fuselage as shown in the picture above.

The Doha Airport Fire Service bought the fire under control and there were no major injuries but it is a terrifying reminder that all that technology within the cabin is more flammable than you like to think and that however remote the probability, it only takes one spark to start a fire that can quickly rip through a plane.
