Get a lawyer involved! A jury just awarded more than $500,000 after their client awoke to find bedbugs in their hotel room!
The family’s attorney, Brian Virag, said he believes it is the biggest bedbug payout in U.S. history.
It came after Alex and Martha McKindra, both 63, checked into the Hilton Garden Inn Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga while visiting their son in California.
They argued that the hotel’s policy for dealing with bugs “had not changed three years after the incident”. They thought that the hotel knew of the bed bug infestation when they stayed and the hotel continued to have problems both before and after the incident.
The case was apparently especially egregious because “they were Hilton Honors members”.
The result? This massive $500,000 payout. For that kind of money you may find some guests will actively seek Hiltons with bedbugs!
