The New Elligton will appeal to the musician in you. A theme of jazz runs throughout the hotel and if you are in Leeds for a concert, this boutique hotel, in the city’s financial district, is the perfect place to stay.
The New Elligton is located in the heart of Leeds’ financial district; an area that is surprisingly vibrant right into the night, with bars and cafes spilling out onto the streets. The area is a short walk from the main train station and Leeds Arena with major retail outlets, nightlife spots and cultural events also within walking distance. Named after American jazz legend: Duke Ellington, who played at the Leeds music festival in 1958, this art deco inspired getaway features 38 individually designed rooms, a boutique lobby, Gin Garden and plenty of excellent amenities.
Style & Character
The decor in this hotel harks back to the elegance and fun of the 1950’s jazz age. The bar is a dark and atmospheric space decorated in olive greens and dark browns with old pictures of jazz players with top hats on the walls. Rooms share this rich and glamorous colour scheme with red sofas and golds detailing. The lighting throughout the hotel is a mix of mysterious purples and yellows, muted as if you are in a jazz club.
Service & Facilities
The highlights here are the Gin Garden Bar and the restaurant in the basement which offers dining in booth-style seating with pretty feathery lighting.
Rooms are chic and spacious with dark wood furniture. Some have rich red sofas, others have golden detailing in the headboards. There is a contemporary feel in the room design and amenities include powerful Hans Grohe rainfall showers with complimentary luxury toiletries and Nespresso coffee machines.
Food & Drink
The Gin Garden bar has attentive bar staff, serves over 100 varieties of gin and offers some excellent cocktails. But it is the dark atmospheric lighting and ambient jazz music that makes it popular with guests and locals alike.
