I was honoured to be chosen to nominate my 10 Best Family Resorts In The USA for USA Today. These family resorts were selected by myself and six other travel experts, and I wanted to share some of my choices as well as giving my own readers the chance to vote for their favourite hotel family resorts out of those nominated. My picks include:
Spa At Four Seasons Resort Orlando
This hotel (pictured above) is right in the middle of Walt Disney World Resort’s beautiful Golden Oak community. With Complimentary transfers to Walt Disney World just down the road, this is a child’s dream. There is also a zero-entry pool, an incredible castle-themed water park and lazy river with the resort. A complimentary Kids’ Camp and character breakfasts with Goofy and pals make this an amazing luxury place to stay with sophistication and fun. Even the spa here caters for kids with or princess makeovers.
Hualalai Spa At Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Kailua-Kona, Hawaaii
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Kailua-Kona in Hawaii, which I also nominated in the ten best destination resorts in 2017, has wild turtles that will swim with you in the sea and come up and say hi on their beach; alfresco showers and Tikki lit evenings at the water’s edge. Their pool is chiselled out of volcanic lava rock and is right next to the beach.
There are loads of kid-friendly amenities, like child-sized bathrobes, welcome milk and cookies, children’s toiletries and a personalised welcome gift. Kids under 18 stay for free in their parents’ room, and there are special kids menus in the restaurants. I have yet to stay at a Four Seasons where kids aren’t welcomed but they always seem to maintain an adult feel, so that you are never overwhelmed by the younger guests.
The Spa At Four Seasons Resort Maui At Wailea, Hawaii
Overlooking the beautiful beach in my favourite part of Maui, Wailea, the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea Spa invites guests to experience the restorative power of nature through its full menu of treatment options, including four signature treatments. We love Oceanside thatched huts where guests can enjoy a massage to the soothing sounds of waves washing up on Wailea Beach.
Families can pack lighter for a stay here as the resort offers complimentary essentials ranging from strollers to baby swings. Kids will love the supervised Kids for All Seasons kids’ club while parents indulge in championship golf courses, unique spa treatments and wellness offerings like SUP yoga. The resort is also home to three of Maui’s best restaurants: Spago, Ferraro’s and DUO (kids ages 5 and under eat free at the latter two, with a paying adult).
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa
Koloa, Hawaii
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa has an amazing tropical lagoon for the kids set in 50 acres tucked between the verdant mountains of Kauai and the sea. Camp Hyatt, an active program for kids between 3 and 12 years old that features a range of Hawaiian-themed activities, like palm frond weaving and lei making.
The Peninsula Hotel Spa, New York
At the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, it’s all about the slides, kid-friendly staff and poolside activities to keep young ones happy and busy while mum and dad take a break. Complimentary transport to the nearby Walt Disney World parks makes this a fantastic base for your trip.
