News

Airbnb and Pinterest recently released their top trending destinations, and they certainly surprised me. Sharm El Sheikh is the top position even though the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises against all but essential travel by air to or from Sharm el Sheikh. Tenerife is also very popular which makes more sense as it is sunny for most of the year and cheap to get to (from the UK).

I outline below the top 10 trending travel destinations on Pinterest and Airbnb, and where you should stay if you want to travel to these destinations and stay in luxury.

1. Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

Known for sunshine and snorkeling, the tourist resort of Sharm El Sheikh has two noteworthy luxury hotels including a Four Seasons hotel (pictured above) which features in our top 5 resorts in Sharm El Sheikh.

2. Tenerife, Canary Islands

The best luxury hotel on the Canary Islands is probably the Leading Hotels Of The World Bahia del Duque Tenerife with a beautiful pool and grounds right on the beach. Travel there in Easter or early autumn when the crowds are gone, the prices are lower, but the weather remains balmy.

3. Courchevel, France

One of the most luxury ski resorts in the Alps, Courchevel offers excellent skiing even early and late in the season due to its altitude (1850m high) and an array of luxury hotels. Hotel-Les-Airelles in Courchevel is a good hotel choice for the luxury traveller.

4. Scottish Highlands

Not a favourite for sun worshipers but beautiful nonetheless, we recommend staying at the Airds hotel or Knockinaam Lodge or why not stay on one of the best luxury castle hotels in Scotland?

5. Reykjavik, Iceland

This trendy destination is on the doorstep of some of the most stunning but bleak scenery in the world. We like to stay in Langanes Villa, in the wilderness of Iceland.

6. Kyoto, Japan

On airbnb you can book into a true Japanese traditional house in a historic buildings in Kyoto. But why restrict yourself to Kyoto? We recommend a trip on Japans most luxurious train.

7. Bora Bora, Polynesia

Dreams are made on these remote Pacific Islands. Stay at the Intercontinental Bora Bora and visit one of French Polynesia’s hidden beaches.

8. New York City, NY

The big apple is an exciting place to visit. We like to stay at the Four Seasons Downtown New York City.

9. Santorini, Greece

This magical island offers staggering views from clifftop hotels. We like Iconic hotel Santorini which is a cave hotel.

10. Barcelona, Spain

Great food, wonderful architecture and loads of sunshine! What is not to like? We stay at El Palauete Suites and can also recommend a selection of the best apartments in Barcelona.
