Springtime in Venice! Is there a better time to visit? We think not! Make the most of this unique and one-of-a-kind city before the summer crowds take over. Rates are lower at this time of year, so you get more bang for your buck. The temperatures are beautifully warm but not yet sweltering, so you can have active days without suffering from heatstroke or the indignity of sweaty arm pits!
But where to stay? For us there are only 3 luxury hotel picks. The Aman Canal Grande, The Belmond Cipriani and the JW Marriott.
If you are looking for palatial history on the Canal Grande, pick the Aman for ornate painted frescos on the ceilings, vistas across the busy Canal Grande, frequented by singing gondolas, and Aman-esque luxury.
If you are looking for sipping a glass of wine in lush gardens on the edge of the lagoon, or swimming in a peaceful pool while watching the boats go buy, the Belmond Cipriani is the one to choose.
In all honesty I can never pick between the Aman and the Cipriani in Venice. They are both completely different and both completely wonderful. I usually stay 2 nights at the Aman, 3 at the Cipriani…
If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to the enormous 1,000€+ price tags of the hotels above, the only chocie for me is the JW Marriott Venice, which sits on it’s own private island out in the lagoon. There is a stylish complimentary boat that takes you too and from the centre and this remains a luxurious, if less convenient, choice. It offers some particularly good waterfront rooms which come complete with plunge pools.
If you haven’t been to Venice, you must, and May is the perfect time to visit.
