Book A Hotel

I just love finding out about new places before the masses descend and this certainly rings true with Korčula Island. Korčula is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, with pristine beaches, an old town known as Little Dubrovnik and a great reputation in seafood restaurants. Magic Island is a newly opened tourist agency on the island whose aim is to present the visitor with the very best that the island has to offer and to ensure that you leave planning your next trip!

Location

Korčula Island is the sixth-largest Adriatic island found off the mainland’s Pelješac peninsula. Flights from London to Dubrovnik take just over 2 and a half hours with several airlines flying the route direct, you can then transfer to Korčula by ferry, bus or car. Alternatively, you can fly direct from London to Split with Easyjet which takes 2 and a half hours, although the transfer takes slightly longer than from Dubrovnik, it’s a very scenic route whether by ferry or bus and takes less than 3 hours.

Style & Character

There’s much to draw visitors here; vineyards, olive groves, dense woodlands, small sandy beaches, friendly villages and a completely preserved old town with walls and medieval towers. Visitors can enjoy walks by the sea or surroundings hills, biking through pine forests, sample olive oil which is among the best in the world, and visit vineyards producing world famous Croatian wines. One must-visit location is a beautiful little Island called Proizd, found at the entrance of the Bay of Vela Luka, it has regularly been named the most beautiful beach on the Adriatic; renowned for its natural beauty and slow pace of life, it boasts stunning white beaches, a turquoise sea, a range of hiking trails and just one small restaurant. Korčula is an island rich in traditional and original folk music and dancing is still performed to the delight of visitors. Korčula is also very popular with divers due to its warm shallows seas with exceptional visibility, there are a couple of dive centres on the island and Magic Island are more than happy to advise you on a diving trip suitable for your level of experience.

Magic Island can assist you with accommodation, boat rentals, car rentals, organised transfers by speed boat or road, and a wide variety of different activities and excursions including: swimming in crystal clear sea waters; walks by the sea or in the surrounding hills; biking through pine forests and olive groves and sampling the local gastronomic delights. They have years of experience in tourism and are passionate about Korčula so are definitely the perfect people to present the very best that this beautiful island has to offer. Check out some of their recommended trips here or talk to them about tailoring something just for you.

Rooms

Magic Island very neatly brings a range of accommodation options on the island together; choose from luxuriously-decorated villas to Robinson stone houses to apartments, from the heart of the town centre, to isolated, peaceful spots. A perfect example is the stunning Villa Anita; located near the sea in the beautiful bay of Gradina near Vela Luka, it is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and has a large infinity pool. It consists of 3 separate apartments so works wonderfully for a family or small group of friends travelling together. There are 5 bedrooms across the 3 apartments and a total of 13 could stay across all 3. The apartments are very well equipped and have 3 bathrooms, air conditioning, several balconies and terraces, an outdoor grill and just a few steps from the property, you will find a partly pebbly, private beach with sun loungers all ready for you to relax and enjoy the crystal clear blue sea.

Food & Drink

There are a selection of delightful taverns and restaurants in Vela Luka where you can sample the taste of Dalmatia; seafood specialties and a friendly, welcome from your host. The family-run seafood restaurants in the old town are also wonderful. For fine dining, it’s worth a trip to Konoba Mate in the centre of the island.
