Europe’s tallest sand dune nestled between the Atlantic Ocean, an enormous pine forest, the Arcachon Bay, a sandbank and a peninsula! It is sometimes described as a “menacing sand wall” or even called a “sand monster” and stands tall at over 100 metres.
At just an hour’s drive from Bordeaux can climb this pristine sand mound and take in the panoramic views over the Atlantic and pine forests behind, there are miles of beaches to explore along the Bassin d’Arcachon. Take a ferry from Arcachon pier to Cap Ferret for the best view of the dune.
Stay at the nearby Villa La Tosca to fully enjoy this beautiful area.
