Is British Airways About To Remove Free Meals on Long-Haul Flights?

British Airways has already removed free food from it’s Euro Traveller offering which is its economy offering within Europe and have replaced it with an Marks & Spencer paid sandwich service.

Now they are considering removing free meals in economy on long haul flights, too.

When CEO Alex Crus was asked whether paid meals “could be extended to economy tickets on long-haul flights” he said: “We might do it”.

British Airways claims to be a premium airline and has spent many years building a trusted and valuable brand. In the last few years the management team seems to put no value on their premium brand and seems intent on rushing to the bottom, trying to position itself with value airlines such as Norwegian.

Will British Airways remove free meals on transatlantic flights and worldwide long-haul flights? I would like to think no, but it seems under the current management that anything is possible.

British Airways features in my top Business Class Airlines and I compare British Airways Club World Vs Virgin Atlantic Upper Class including the Galleries Lounges Vs Virgin’s Clubhouses. If you enjoyed this review you may be interested in my other airline reviews and airport lounge reviews.
