10 Of The Best Wilderness Resorts In The World

In my selection of the 10 best luxury wilderness resorts in the world you can truly get away from it all and escape. Each retreat is ultra-luxury and far from civilisation.

I am in love with the luxury wilderness lodge of the Sal Salis set in the dunes which border the beach and the Ningaloo reef. Enjoy a red kangaroo grazing amongst the dunes, the beautiful song of a butcherbird or a humpback whale breaching just beyond the reef. Before breakfast, pop on your snorkel gear and paddle into a world of reef sharks, turtles clownfish, manta rays and dolphins.

Amangiri is also a favourite in Utah in the United States. Desert escapes don’t get better than this.

Lizard Island (pictured above) is a dream come true with Crusoe-esque stretches of beach and deep blue ocean fringing this reef encircle the island. Here, you can explore the Great Barrier Reef straight from the shore, swimming and snorkeling among black-tipped reef sharks over its corals.

Each of these resorts are perfect to retreat and escape. Adventure through rainforest, across beaches, over deserts or up mountains. These spectacular and remote destinations will immerse you in nature, wildlife and in absolute luxury. Here is my pick of the top 10 wilderness resorts in the world.
