When I think about my dream holiday destination (something I admit I do quite a lot!) it always tends to include stunning ocean views in a tropical paradise, an infinity pool to die for and beautiful, luxury accommodation. I’m basically describing Raiwasa Grand Villa here; this really is the place of dreams. Take my wish list and add to that; the privacy of an exclusive hideaway, amazing food and exceptional service, and you start to have some idea of what’s waiting for you at the rather special Raiwasa Grand Villa.
The villa is on Taveuni; the “garden island” of Fiji, it’s perched high above the South Pacific, with awesome 180-degree views overlooking the Somosomo Straight. American Airlines, Fiji Airways and Qantas all fly direct to the international airport of Nadi from the US mainland or it’s just a 4-hour flight from Sydney. A short 1-hour flight then connects you to Taveuni but this will be like no other flight you’ve ever taken with amazing views of the outer islands of Fiji and the beautiful sparkling turquoise waters.
Style & Character
Sheer 5* luxury is how best to describe this place; it’s not just one of the most luxurious villas in the whole of Fiji, but it would be a definite contender for the rest of the world too. Elegant, understated class and style surround you; beautiful calm colours and chairs that seem to envelope you in a hug. Surrounding your villa is a lush tropical carpet of green rainforest, swaying palm trees, fruit trees in abundance and fabulously colourful tropical flowers. The villa sits on a private 3-acre retreat, so privacy is guaranteed and peace and quiet a promise. The sunsets are spectacular too, the total lack of light pollution means that every night, you are wrapped in a blanket of stars.
Service & Facilities
Your three-sided infinity pool is stunning and more than ticks my infinity pool dream-holiday wish-list! The views looking across the pool of the deep turquoise ocean are simply breathtaking. There are two covered bure’s (one overlooking the pool and ocean, and the other at the beach level), a dining/observation deck and a huge outdoor couch, so plenty of spots to chill out with a glass of something chilled. There’s also a series of steps to take you to your own private beach, definitely worth exploring! This is somewhere to go to relax, unwind, destress and maybe catch up on some romance, but should you want to be slightly more active too, there’s lots on offer. Complimentary activities available at the resort include: kayaks, paddle boards, bikes and snorkelling gear, plus cooking classes, massages and cultural experiences like coconut husking and basket weaving. The service at Raiwasa is truly second-to-none, it’s really more pampering than service, with a staff of 10 to cater to your every whim. The villa is family-owned and run and this is evident in the personal attention given to all their guests.
There are two exquisitely-decorated suites in the villa; both include king-sized beds, an open ceiling design and a full bathroom, as well as twin honeymoon showers and outdoor bathtubs. The suites are connected by a central living area and offset kitchen. Everything in the villa is about those mesmerising, panoramic views, across the ocean and looking out over the stunning gardens. The master bedroom also has vast bi-fold doors that open onto a wraparound deck. There’s a 38” flat screen TV, DVD/Blu-ray player and DVD’s, Bose portable sound system, board games and cards to entertain yourself if for some reason gazing at the ocean gets too much!
Food & Drink
Dining is also just that little bit special here; pick from six unique and impressive dining locations and enjoy breakfast, lunch and 5-course dinners prepared by your talented executive chef. Stunningly presented, the cuisine is fresh, locally sourced, with exotic Fijian flavours and an exciting flair.
