Lightning is a massive danger on beaches. On a beach, humans are the highest point, which means that they attract lightning during storms. In America, beautiful beaches, such as New Smyrna (pictured above) and Clearwater in Florida, the Lightning Capital of the U.S. according to the National Weather Service, are closed during bad storms because of the threat.
Lighting is a real danger. The chance of being struck by lightening in the US is approximately 94 in a million, this compares to only 0.15 in a million of US citizens that are attacked by sharks.
