The beach at Waikiki is certainly not a beach to get away from it all. Bordering the city of Waikiki, the tourism hub of the Hawaiian Islands, this beach is busy and fun. It is protected from the ocean by a number of reefs, which means it is safe and relatively calm, a good place to learn to surf as you won’t find the largest waves here. This long, thin, white sand beach, sits in front of the best hotels on Waikiki, like the Hilton Hawaiian Village (pictured above) and the Sheraton Waikiki which I reviewed last time I was in Hawaii.
It may be busy but it is a great sandy beach to walk along, barefoot in the evening, listening to the sounds of hula dancing and Elvis floating across from the various hotels on the warm breeze.
