The Anchor Brewhouse, London
Once home to a thriving warehouse district, the Anchor Brewhouse is located, quite literally, on the River Thames in the newly refurbished Shad Thames area of southeast London. Directly across the river from the Tower of London and offering breath-taking views of Tower Bridge from its glassed-in terrace, this property offers you all the comforts of home right in the heart of this amazing city. The apartment resides on the site of one of the first-ever commercial brewing houses in England, originally acquired in 1787 by John Courage (founder of Courage Breweries) and operated for over a century, it has now been brilliantly reimagined into modern, upscale residential spaces.
As you enter the building you are greeted by the concierge and very friendly housekeeper in the stylish lobby, complete with water feature, before being whisked up to your new home-from-home in the city. As you open the door to the stunning and contemporary apartment you are immediately met with the large, grand and welcoming entrance hall which leads onwards to the stylish and spacious lounge and floor-to-ceiling glass walled balcony room beyond – a very impressive sight indeed!
Leading off from these rooms you will find a TV room, large dining room, kitchen, 4 ensuite bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms complete with spa products – everything you could ask for in your perfect London pad. The apartment comfortably sleeps 8 in a very spacious Master Bedroom Suite overlooking the Thames with TV and seating area, large and very comfortable king-size bed with unique and enchanting aeroplane wing headboard and large ensuite bathroom with separate bath, shower, bidet, his and hers vanities and WC; further sleeping accommodation can be found in two additional stylish king-size ensuite bedrooms with wonderful arched windows overlooking the London skyline; and a fun and welcoming fourth bedroom with adult size bunk bed, children’s toys and superfluous bean bags and cushions.
The lounge and glass walled balcony would not look at all out of place as James’ or M’s London pad in a Bond film – the incredibly spacious lounge features two large and comfortable sofas that you can sink into as well as two additional chairs, a huge coffee table, side tables, desk, candles, art and two beautiful wooden Trojan-style horses that I would happily give space to in my own home. Beyond the lounge and through the glass doors you enter the rather salubrious and suave glass-walled balcony complete with large metal binoculars and stand, comfortable sofa, two leather scoop chairs, coffee table and mesmerising view of Tower Bridge and all the passers-by – many an hour could be spent in here watching the world go by.
Leading off from the lounge to the left you enter the TV room or snug with large corner sofa and all the modern entertainment you could wish for including Blu-ray player, sound system, huge flat screen TV, computer, DVDs, games and more. To the right of the lounge you enter the grand and spacious dining room with a table to seat 8 and through a further door you enter the bright and modern kitchen with all Miele appliances, Nespresso coffee machine, all the crockery, cutlery and glassware you could ask for and 4-person breakfast bar overlooking the Thames. The apartment also has all the modern amentities that you enjoy at home, including: wireless internet access, computer with printer and fax machine, iPod ready surround system. Should you need them there is also an infant crib, monitor, car seat, stroller and high chair available.
Solstice can provide you access to the city’s finest concierge services which offer restaurant recommendations and reservations, private shopping experiences and private tours of the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, Windsor Castle, watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace from behind the gates and privileged access to private aristocratic palaces. And, for the sports-minded among us they can also arrange front row seats at Wimbledon and more…
Without doubt, London is one of the most vibrant cities in the world with so much to offer and one of the very best ways to discover it is from the comfort of your very own luxury Tower Bridge residence courtesy of Solstice.
