Qantas is launching the first ever nonstop flights between Perth and London Heathrow. We already featured the possibility of these direct Perth to London flights but as of this week, these lengthy flights are actually happening.
These ultra long-haul flights will have a flying time of around 17.5 hours and will be operated by one of Qantas’ B787s the first of which will be delivered in 2017.
When Singapore Airlines launched nonstop between Singapore and New York, they offered a configuration with Singapore First and Singapore Business Class taking up more space on the plane than on “average” long haul flights. Will Qantas do the same for these Perth-London flights?
Thanks to the extended range afforded by the B787-9, a direct service between Perth and London is possible. Crossing eight time zones, the distance is around 14,500km – more than 650km further than the Emirates service to Panama.
