Book A Hotel

Just northwest of Madrid, in central Spain’s Castile and León region, you find the fairy-tale city of Segovia set amid the rolling hills of Castilla. A historic city with diverse architecture; from medieval walls to Romanesque churches, there’s even a gothic castle which legend says was the inspiration for Disney’s sleeping beauty castle! It’s now a surprisingly modern and vibrant place but it’s wonderful history remains. For a luxurious and relaxing, home-from-home apartment in this beautiful area, Artesa Suites & SPA are beautiful and offer a first-class spa as well as the comfort of their suites and set near to the city in a lovely quiet, mountain village. Flights from London to Madrid take around 2 hours and 20 minutes, the apartments are then less than an hour’s drive away.

Artesa Suites & SPA Review
Artesa Suites & SPA are tucked away in the foothills of the mountain pass of Somosierra, near the village of Santo Tome del Puerto outside of the city of Segovia. The location is perfect because as well as being near enough to both Segovia and Madrid, you are near the mountains and are in a prime position for excursions and activities exploring the high peaks. The building itself is a beautiful old 19th century bakery converted into a modern complex of six suites and a spa which offers beauty, health and wellness treatments.

The spa facility is vast and being located on the ground floor, fills the entire property with an amazing fragrance! It is a key part of a stay here and it would be remiss not to take full advantage of it! As well as a comprehensive menu of treatments, they also offer a 1 hour Spa Circuit which gives you access to the Turkish Bath, Finnish Sauna, Special Showers and Pool; allowing you to totally, relax refresh and re-energise – bliss. The pool is not just any pool either; this is a thermal pool with the temperature being in the region of 35 to 37° and with underwater jets to both aid relax and help tone the body, a rather fabulous way to spend an afternoon!

They are also known for their beer tasting events here which make for a lovely evening enjoying some fine craft beers and learning of their backgrounds with local stories and anecdotes. A daily breakfast is also provided although the suites are set up for self-catering, it is however delicious so it’s well worth trying!

Suites
There are six suites and all are unique and offer something a little special. They are named: The Forest, Milk, Honey, Cereals, Chocolate and Cream! And yes, there are some subtle hints of these names reflected in the décor, very tastefully done to create a beautiful, stylish finish that aims to promote relaxation and rest. Natural materials are used throughout; sustainability is important here, and a warm colour palate is used with unusual artwork and other little surprises, such as beautiful tree trunk bedside tables!

Every suite includes a comfy bed, side tables, en-suite bathroom, living area with a sofa bed, kitchenette, flat screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, air conditioning, underfloor heating and breath-taking views across the mountains.

Most of the suites are 50m2 except from Cream which is 70m2 and has two bedrooms instead of one, I would recommend this one purely because it’s so spacious, but in terms of the décor, Forest would be my favourite; the beautiful greens and the way it so honestly reflects the Castilians forests outside win me over.

For a luxury sanctuary amid the rolling Spanish hills, selecting one of the apartments from Artesa Suites & SPA will ensure that you return from your trip an altogether more relaxed version of yourself!
