Akan Tsuruga Besso Hinanoza, Hokkaido, Japan
A newly built, contemporary-style ryokan surrounded by forest on the shores of tranquil Lake Akan. With echos of charming traditional Japanese inns, the hotel is perfectly placed to enable its guests to relax and get back to nature. The huge suites all feature private open-air baths fed by hot spring waters and many offer breath-taking lake views. There are also two large, communal open air hot-spring baths which include hot stone spas. Fine dining Japanese-style is served in the hotel’s restaurant.

The 14 huts that form the hotel are really more like glamourous cabins with private plunge pools. This is a renowned location for leopards and on the twice-daily safaris, sightings are almost guaranteed. Just about under the boutique hotel umbrella with 49 villas, this beautiful 5-star resort is tucked away in the green hills overlooking the sandy beaches of Chan May bay, in central Vietnam. The décor is elegant with lovely Vietnamese touches, each of the villas has a private pool and spacious terrace, there is a private beach, Asian spa and a number of fine dining restaurants. For a boutique resort experience, few can rival this place (pictured above).

You don’t get much more intimate than this hotel, with only 4 individually designed rooms and suites! Situated literally a few steps from the beach, this charming property is newly built and fantastically placed to explore Sri Lanka. It’s also possible to book the whole property so would be a great option for a family travelling together or a group of friends. There is a swimming pool, breakfast is included and lunch and dinner are also available.
