On your next visit to Santa Monica, why not try something a bit different with a Haunted Santa Monica Ghost Tour! On the west side of downtown Los Angeles (which can be reached via an 11 hour flight from London), Santa Monica is renowned for its gorgeous beaches, it’s century-old pier and of course, Muscle Beach itself. Perhaps less known however, is its truly eerie past.
Santa Monica Tours is run by local husband and wife team Zack and Candace Fahey. Zack explains their passion for the tour: “We are bursting with excitement to share Santa Monica’s haunted history. This city has two sides: one that it uses to entice tourists and another spookier more supernatural side.” The Faheys fully researched the area’s haunted history: gathering data, EVP (electronic voice phenomena) recordings and talking to eye witnesses to get their accounts of the strange occurrences. The guides are all well versed in parapsychology and have personally interviewed workers on the pier and are ready to share their ghost stories and paranormal information, with some fun ghost jokes thrown in too.
The spooky walking tour takes in various creepy locations as well as the pier itself, with each location getting creepier as the tour progresses. Many of the locations aren’t famous for being haunted but from speaking with eye witnesses and gathering evidence their more infamous side was revealed. There is a guarantee that nothing on the tour is made up, all the research and third party accounts are real. Most excitingly, when conditions allow and as long as the guests are willing, the tour guides will actually attempt to make contact with the dead – ensuring this really is the most interactive spectre hunt you can find!
The tour takes around 2 hours, though if the encounters are particularly special, time will be allowed to overrun. The route is about a mile long but will be conducted at a leisurely pace. Children are allowed on the tour, just make sure it won’t give them nightmares! The walk is wheelchair and buggy suitable but does include a steep section. Tips for your guides aren’t included but are of course appreciated. Comfortable clothing is recommended, perhaps an extra layer to protect against the chills! You are welcome to take your own photos on the tour, just be sure to inspect them carefully afterwards as you never know who or what might be lurking in the shadows! The tour ends in a haunted restaurant, the perfect spot to continue your evening with a spooky snack.
So for a unique and fun way to experience Santa Monica’s history, with extra chills and thrills, it has to be a Haunted Santa Monica Ghost Tour.
