Bodrum is situated on the northern shores of Turkey’s beautiful Aegean coast. This on-trend town offers sublime views, trendy bars and an excellent variety of restaurants. In fact, Bodrum is often compared to St Tropez and is quite the place to see and be seen on the Turkish coast.
Bodrum’s whitewashed alleyways are packed with art galleries, museums and stylish boutiques. Beyond the town you will find the most spectacular beaches. In the evenings a great place to chill is the Marina Yacht Club where you can enjoy cocktails to the sound of the latest tunes. For late night fun, party at Billionaire Club Bodrum and for fine dining, head to Nobu Bodrum or Cipriani.
Bodrum Castle, built in 1402, is the town’s number-one tourist attraction. It offers peaceful views over the town and the Aegean Sea. Inside is the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, filled with shipwrecks and treasure is also worth a visit. Some of the best beaches and bays in the area can only be accessed only by boat, so consider chartering a dinghy or booking onto a boat tour. Do remember to haggle for the best deal.
Review Avantgarde Yalikavak
There are a surprising number of very luxury boutique hotels to choose from in and around this hip town and if you are looking for luxury, Avantgarde Hotel Yalikavak is a great choice.
Avantgarde Hotel Yalikavak is just 45 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes from the Bodrum. The hotel is also just a 5 minute speed boat trip across the bay from Bodrum Marina where you will find all the happening bars and restaurants. Because the hotel is located away from the centre, it is the perfect escape, where you can enjoy peace and quiet and your own private beach.
The feel of this hotel is modern luxury, with a youthful and funky feel. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and modern and the beach and pool are a super place to bathe to some rocking club tunes.
30 peaceful bedrooms enjoy decor that combines traditional whites with a modern, funky finish. The Deluxe Sea View rooms on the 1st floor are particularly recommended offering peace and quiet with dreamy views.
Pool & Beach
The outside areas are phenomenal. There is a beautiful pool, a tiny private beach with a little pontoon where you can sunbathe. There is also a nice grassy area behind the beach with more sunbeds.
Restaurant & Bar
Breakfast is outstanding at Avantgarde Hotel Yalikavak. A very fresh buffet is on offer plus eggs to order and expect impeccable service. Evening dining is also very good and reasonably priced, with romantic outdoor tables by set up by the pool which give you a lovely view of the sea. It is also worth mentioning that the food at the beach bar is mouthwatering too.
Yalikavak marina is within walking distance and just beyond the hotel is a local beach club for water sports. Yalikavak itself is absolutely lovely with a notable lack of rowdy bars which is fantastic for a quiet getaway. If you like amazing food, sea front restaurants and lovely little shops to wander around, then this is the place for you!
When to go
Bodrum is gorgeously sweltering in the summer but even in May, September and October it is hot enough to sunbathe and dip in the sea. Prices are also better at these times of year and there are less crowds.
Flights from Britain to Bodrum start at £170 GBP return with Monarch Airlines. Alternatively take British Airways to Istanbul and enjoy a few nights there and then connect to Bodrum with one of the main Turkish airlines.
