The weather is grey and dull in November so I wanted to lift your day with news of the newest luxury hotel launch in the Maldives. The soon to open Ritz-Carlton Ekulhivaru.
The luxury hotel chain Ritz-Carlton is introducing their brand the Ritz-Carlton reserve in the tropical archipelago which will be set on the oval-shaped pristine island of Ekulhivari, which can be reached by a sea plane or a speed boat.
The design challenge was to create a self-contained island resort, branded as The Ritz-Carlton Reserve. The spirit running through all design work is barefoot elegance. Guest enjoyment is maximized by scattering the various nodes of interest across the island to encourage exploration and adventure.
The oval-shaped island of Ekulhivaru, with 360 degrees of white sand beach, lends itself to a master plan that locates all of the main guest facilities and villas on the beach fringes; some are even located over the water. The densely forested interior is kept as undisturbed as possible, maintaining privacy between the guestrooms and concealing the service facilities from sight and sound. The key public spaces are oriented to the south for daytime sun on the best beaches, and to the west to capture the spectacular sunset views. Because the island has to be self sufficient in terms of electrical and mechanical services, there is a significant amount of equipment located in the engineering compound; the surrounding employees? accommodations act as a buffer.
The expected date the opening or completion of this five star resort set has not been unveiled. Although it is no doubt that this resort will provide a unique luxury experience in the Maldives – I think the picture above says it all.
