Paris has been beckoning romantics, lovers, writers and artists into its many unique districts surrounded by the meandering River Seine for centuries. It offers a noble charm and chic style almost impossible to match in any other European city as well as hundreds of places to stay from bijou little B&B’s through to grand five-star luxury hotels and of course travel there is quick and easy with flights as cheap as you are willing to go or the more sedate Eurostar and of course the option of travelling by road. I personally, feel a stay in Paris wouldn’t be right without immersing yourself in a truly unique one-of-a-kind French boutique hotel and my latest pick is the: Hôtel Eugène en Ville situated in the 9th Parisian district which boasts numerous places of cultural, historical, and architectural interest, including the Palais Garnier (the home of the Paris Opera) and Boulevard Haussmann with its impressive department stores of Galeries Lafayette and Printemps.
Hôtel Eugène Hotel & Room Review
This contemporary boutique four-star hotel is located right in the beating heart of Paris, between Montmartre and Opera. Perfectly blending, quintessential Parisian style, charm, contemporary design and comfort together, this hotel and its staff offer guests a warm and friendly welcome. All the communal areas offer a quirky charm with unique décor, artwork and rough stone walls mixed with plenty of curious and object d’art to keep your attention for hours. Fantastical candelabra pop up around the corners, mixed in with exhibit pieces, rich carpeting and magnificent lighting features. The 66 rooms and suites in this totally refurbished hotel come in all shapes and sizes and offer everything you need for a comfortable stay. The Classic Rooms are simple, yet stylish and filled with quirky art and caricatures adorning the walls as well as comfy beds, iPod dock, safe, LED TV with 64 multilingual channels, desk, wifi, air conditioning, bathroom with bath or shower and complimentary mineral water (note: there is also the option of a Single Room for guests travelling alone). The more spacious Superior Rooms offer added luxury and the benefit of your own private (40m²) terrace, as well as a big comfortable bed (queen or king size), bathroom and robes. Finally the Deluxe Rooms are the most spacious and luxurious of all with everything the Superior Rooms offer as well as VIP amenities and Nespresso coffee machine. Room Tip: If you want to avoid any street noise then the rooms at the back of the hotel would be best. The hotel also offers a concierge service, room service, massage lounge and a small business centre for up to 15 people.
The hotel boasts Eugine’s Cantine with a stylish and contemporary atmosphere and quirky wooden seating options. Dining options range from light snacks like shrimp and grapefruit salad and gazpacho soup and soubressada toast to more hearty meals like steak tartar and sharing plates like charcuteries, french cheese and smoked salmon. Whilst the food is good at the hotel, not dining out at least one night would be a crime whilst staying in this beautiful city and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and bistros to choose from (tip: while most people head to Montmartre to dine, however those in the know, head to SoPi (South of Pigalle), to enjoy the many culinary delights the district has to offer including: Popelinis, Rose Bakery, Braisenville, Le Pantruche and Les Canailles).
There are so many great places to visit in Paris from the obvious Eiffel Tower, The Palaces of Versailles, the Arc De Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral to name but a few. Conveniently, the hotel is in a great central location and just 10 minutes walk from Louvre, Boulevard Haussmann and less an a couple of minutes walk from the nearest metro station, so all of the sights are within easy reach. I would personally recommend a cruise down the Seine to take in the city from the water as well as a Chateau wine tasting (or two!).
This thoroughly unique Parisian hotel could have walked right off the pages of an Alice in Wonderland novel with all of its curious and charm and it’s sure to play an important part in creating a special and lasting memory of this magnificent city.
