Writing for my luxury travel blog, Luxury Travel Diary, means I spend much of my time traveling the world on long-haul flights. Although worries about deep vein thrombosis are no longer making headlines in the media, I am always careful to get up from time to time but I have always turned my nose up at the horribly unflattering compression socks that are on the market.
This has all changed with Tramps Hosiery, a new line of compression hosiery created by Alex Reyes, a long-time hairdresser, and her brother Tomas Reyes, a New York-based fashion designer. The two teamed up after they realized there was a huge void of color, fashion, and excitement in the available support hose market.
Designed especially for travelers, hairdressers, nurses, and anyone else who spends a lot of time on their feet these tight tights are designed to protect legs from bad circulation or varicose veins.
I have tried two styles, the “Bryanna” style, which features a high waist for back support, flattens your tummy to a pancake but can feel constricting after a large dinner. The lycra ribbed rolled wide waistband does not pinch which is great, instead hugs in giving a beautiful shape. I also love the open-toe design which makes them feel more like a legging.
Tramps Fashion Compression Hosiery also comes in hip-hugger which works better for me when I travel as I tend to wear low-slung jeans and eat more than usual to keep myself sane on long-haul flights. This design is less constricting around the tummy and comes in some fabulous colors including a glorious pink and a chic black.
So I have one less thing to worry about on my next long flight as these fun tights will be helping take care of my circulation and legs.
