Book A Stay

Hopkins Bay Belize is ideally situated at the edge of Belize, on the Caribbean Sea, in the heart of the cozy Garifuna village of Hopkins Bay.

Location

Hopkins Bay was voted the friendliest city in Belize, and only in a place like this will you experience the real Belize. The real Belize has a way of bringing out the real you. Your best you.

There’s a jungle for your inner hiker and inner zipliner. Reefs for your inner snorkeler and inner fisherman. Caves for your inner kayaker. Waterfalls for your inner rappeller. Ancient Mayan Ruins for your inner explorer. And Rhum Bar for your inner pina colada drinker.

The best way to reach Hopkins Bay Resort is to fly into Belize and take the 2-and-a-half-hour adventurous road trip to Hopkins. Be sure to make this trip during the day, as road signs seem missing in places, although the roads to Hopkins are surprisingly decent.

Once you get into town, the roads can be a little bumpy, but if you get lost, the locals will help you – they truly are as friendly as their reputation. Located at the North end of Hopkins, this area is relatively untouched by tourism, making it so special.

Style & Character

Once you arrive, you will be greeted by a warm smile from Valene at the blue wooden reception building, and you will be escorted to your new home while your bags are transported over in a golf cart.

Rooms

Each villa is perfectly located and spacious, with a comfortable king-sized bed, flat-screen television, two balconies, and commanding views of the Caribbean Sea.

The 1-bedroom beach lofts are private and set on the second floor. Both are equipped with all the essentials and amenities, including air conditioning, blow dryer, coffee maker, fridge, filtered water cooler, and safe.

The management here thinks of everything, as they even provide a super effective and complimentary bug spray /oil. Without their spray, you’d risk being eaten alive by mosquitoes, but the one they supply is far better than the ones you get at home and works so that you can sit out and enjoy the sunset without becoming a feast for the local wildlife!

Service & Facilities

Snorkeling is a must at Hopkins Bay. The main reef is called “the Aquarium,” You feel like you are in an aquarium when you swim on it.

Bocowina National Park is only 30 mins from the resort. You can climb antelope falls and hike the 4000ft waterfall. Bring lots of water as it is quite a trek and takes around  2.5 hours. The highlight here is the magical swim you can take in the pool and falls (although keep an eye out for some sharp rocks). A truly gorgeous experience and utterly refreshing in this tropical climate.

Exceptional Mayan Ruins are around a 2 hr drive away, complete with a park, exhibits, and a museum.

Food & Drink

Breakfast in the Rhum Shack is a seaside treat every morning. The Rhum Shack is also great for lunch and dinner. It has a great atmosphere in the evening and is the perfect place to eat good food and drink great drinks. It is always delicious! An alternative dining venue is the Driftwood pizza, where live music and local drummers play. The place is almost right next door to the resort, and their pizza is fabulous.

Conclusion

The groundsmen constantly tend to the impeccable gardens at Hopkins Bay, which make the resort look like a version of paradise. Your job as a guest is to laze and enjoy this beautiful destination. Beach bums rejoice. The hardest decision you’ll ever have to make at Hopkins Bay is which palm tree you’d like to swing on a hammock from at the end of the day.
