Book A Stay

The 5-star Hotel Marinedda is situated on one of the most beautiful peninsulas in Northern Sardinia, where the red of the rocks sparkle as the sun sets over the Sardinian sea.

Location

Hotel Marinedda is easy to reach from the ports and the international airports of Olbia-Costa Smeralda (about 80 km) and Alghero-Fertilia (about 95 km). The ports of Santa Teresa Gallura (ferries to Corsica) and Porto Torres (ferries incoming to Sardinia) are just a 45-minute drive away.

Style & Character

Hotel Marinedda Thalasso & Spa is a stylish 5-star beach holiday resort that takes up a whole mountainside. It is furnished in the Island’s Mediterranean tradition and surrounded by a lush green park, and it has 195 rooms, three restaurants, and a fantastic Thalasso & Spa Centre, Elicriso. Across the resort, panoramic terraces offer breathtaking views of the sea.

The hotel boasts a unique position offering spectacular views over the Gulf of Asinara in an area that is world-famous for its crystal-clear waters in amazing shades of blue.

Nearby is Isola Rossa, a historic fishermen’s hamlet, which can be reached by foot or by a short complimentary shuttle ride. In this little village, each evening becomes a pedestrian-only promenade, ideal for a romantic stroll or time out with the family. Isola Rossa also has a well-equipped, modern marina with some 400 berths and a full range of services for pleasure boaters. This harbor area is lovely, with a few shops, cafes, and a supermarket, perfect for picking up any snacks you might want.

Rooms

Traditional rooms are Mediterranean in style, warm and welcoming, with décor reflecting the island’s typical style: chestnut wood beams, wrought iron decorations, unique handicraft works, and a view over the lush gardens or the deep blue sea.

Each room has its own veranda with two deck chairs (or two chairs plus a coffee table), and crucially, each room has quiet yet effective air conditioning. Sea-view rooms are available at an extra charge and are worth splurging on. The top room in the resort is the exclusive Executive Elicriso, with its open-plan lounge area and a terrace with a mini-Thalasso pool with heated seawater and hydro-massage (depth 1.3 m for two adults). There’s also a large private garden guaranteeing privacy and relaxation.

Service & Facilities

There are two swimming pools with loungers and a poolside bar service on the grounds. The restaurant and reception are more or less at the center of the resort, along with the popular and vibrant main pool. The saltwater pool is towards the beach.

The beach is literally just beyond the lower salt pool, and the sea is a lovely turquoise color with shallow areas ideal for a paddle in the crystal-clear water. This is a free beach, but a fairly large part of the beach is specially roped-off and reserved only for Marinedda guests, full of sunbeds and umbrellas (which you can hire for a small fee). Alternatively, just lay your towels out on the golden sand for free and take a dip in the very blue waters.

Food & Drink

The food at Hotel Marinedda is a highlight. There are three restaurants, a pizzeria, and an a la carte. The buffet is of excellent quality, with a good range of dishes and new menus every day. Marinedda chefs are creative, and in 10 days, you are unlikely to see the same dish than twice, which shows the vast range of meals they cook. There are different meat, fish, pasta, and risotto dishes every night, all with very good vegetable choices. It is also worth mentioning that all the waiters and waitresses are phenomenal, always ready to help and take drinks and food orders.

There is also live music at the bar featuring different artists who are surprisingly good each evening.

Conclusion

This beautiful resort is set in a stunning corner of rural Sardinia. There are amazing views from every terrace and every evening offers another chance to enjoy the stunning sunset over the bay.

The beach, which is steps away, is pristine with turquoise sea and white sand, and the staff are amazing. This resort is simply wonderful. Book a sea view room and relax. Hotel Marinedda is the perfect antidote to a grey British summer.
