Villa Tanguera

Located In Italy

I like to shop for my holiday villas the way I shop for my designer shoes: first and foremost, they need to be unusual and stylish and make me feel fabulous. My rigorous standards are always high but I am pleased to say I have found a villa in Italy that meets my exacting standards: Villa Tanguera being an Uber stylish residence in Sicily. It’s located in the beautiful Palermo in Sicily, on the slopes of the Capo Gallo nature reserve at Partanna-Mondello – perfectly secluded for a wonderful hideaway escape.

The villa is part of Hisicily, a company that offers a completely new approach to finding your perfect dream holiday villa. Hisicily wants to know your interests, passions, preferences, and expectations and from this, they will try to identify the perfect villa for you in Sicily. Currently, they have nine villas to choose from, each with its own style and character. Hisicily is proud to provide properties and service of the highest standard, whilst also catering to your every whim while you stay with them.

And so to the villa; Villa Tanguera immediately greets you with a suave style and cool sophistication that even George Clooney would be proud of. Situated within a private estate, the house opens out onto a patio and lush green lawn which allows the garden to become your very own al-fresco lounge – perfect for breakfast in the morning sunshine and cocktails as the warm sun sinks in the sky. Inside the villa, it’s ultra-modern, bright, and welcoming, with sunlight streaming in through the vast floor-to-ceiling windows.

The villa feels chic and elegant, mixing modern comforts with classic timeless style features. As you enter on the ground floor you are met with dark real wood flooring (with lovely underfloor heating for cold toes!), a spacious lounge area with a bar, an impressive dining room with glass walls on three sides, a kitchen, bathroom, private solarium with sunken hydro-massage and an against-the-current indoor swimming pool – all very impressive. On the first floor, you find the luxury master bedroom with a Jacuzzi hot tub illuminated with iridescent lights, a walk-in wardrobe, bathroom, and terrace, finally, on the second floor, you have a wonderful roof-top terrace with views over the surrounding countryside.

This home-away-from-home has all the usual amenities you would expect in such a luxury home including an oversized and incredibly comfortable sofa, wall-mounted flat-screen TV, state-of-the-art surround-sound audio system, a real fireplace, and a wall projector in the bedroom. A stay here provides you and up to five other guests with total privacy due to its high perimeter walls (that also ensure maximum security) at any time of the year as the villa is well insulated making it cool in the summer and warm and snug in the winter.

When it comes to dining, you can of course cook for yourself in the well-equipped kitchen or, as I prefer, Hisicily can arrange for a personal chef to come and do all the hard work for you while you relax with a glass of something bubbly – this is the way to live! Tip: If you are going to whip up a storm in the kitchen there is a close-by private allotment that offers delicious fresh daily produce – definitely worth a visit. Nearby you will also find bars, restaurants with sumptuous local specialties as well as supermarkets if you want to self-cater.

To keep you entertained Sicily is steeped in history, so there are plenty of places to visit including Palermo, Monreale Cathedral, Mondello beach, and Capo Gallo Nature Reserve. If you want something a little more active there are some nearby stables offering private horse-riding lessons and Hisicily have affiliations with several local businesses and are more than happy to arrange windsurfing lessons, boat trips, cookery classes, and ceramic courses – just let them know what you fancy and they will arrange it all. Alternatively, there is plenty of shopping close by as well as a few fitness centers too.

I will leave you with the thoughts of one Luxury Travel Diary reader who won a stay here in our Luxury Travel Auction: “Dear Francesco, thank you ever so much for such a wonderful week’s stay in your villa. It has been the great relaxing week we needed and the villa has been a great slice of luxury for us. The villa has been fantastic, with a great pool area. Lovely lounge and all went just perfect. Francesco, thank you for being such a great host, showing us around Mondello, and taking us out for drinks in Palermo. We would happily come back and so perhaps, we may see you again in the future”. Thanks again. Jamie and Emma September 2015.
