Situated very close to Colombo airport (just 20 minutes drive by taxi) and just 10 minutes from the beach by tuk-tuk, this peaceful little hideaway comprises a selection of single, double, and triple cabanas with balconies as well as a standard deluxe room and a deluxe family room (part of the main house) that sleeps up to 4 guests. All the rooms are clean with simple décor and offer guests complimentary Wi-Fi, complimentary water, tea & coffee making facilities, air conditioning, ceiling fan, TV & DVD player, mini-fridge, hairdryer, and complimentary toiletries. If you want to stay here in a large group, the whole resort can be booked out accommodating up to 20 guests. Room Tip: If you are seeking a bit more privacy then ask for cabana 4 as it is detached from the other 3 cabanas.

Set in lush, green gardens the Hideaway boasts a pool (with complimentary pool towels), pool bar, and pool barbecue area as well as badminton, volleyball, a library, TV lounge, and indoor and outdoor dining options. Hassan and Sarah are keen to give their guests a welcoming home-away-from-home experience and are more than happy to arrange extra luxurious treats like private on-site massages and yoga sessions, nothing is too much trouble. They can also arrange airport transfers as well as a driver for a day or a whole week if you so wish, which is a pretty good idea as the resort is a little drive away from most sights. Note: The owners are very animal conscious and you will find several rescue cats and dogs wandering around the property.

A stay at the Fire Dragon Hideaway always includes breakfast (tip: try the fresh mango juice it’s simply delicious!) and they also offer a lunch, dinner, and poolside snack menu with fresh juices and Sri Lankan specialties as well as Western options all prepared by experienced chefs.

Nearby attractions include the Negombo Fish Market, Negombo Lagoon and Muthurajawela Marsh, numerous temples and churches, and Negombo Beach. If you take a day trip, which Hassan and Sarah will happily arrange for you, you can visit Colombo, Sigiriya Rock, Dambulla Caves, Kandy, Pinnawalla Elephant Orphanage, and the tea plantations.
