The world’s first animal airport terminal called “The Ark” will open at John F Kennedy Airport in 2016.
This $48 million animal cargo facility or animal terminal is designed to reduce stress for pets and owners who are traveling and accommodation will be designed for horses, domestic pets as well as farm livestock.
The Ark will have direct access to the runway, a 24-hour vet and a “resort” called Paradise 4 Paws for owners who don’t want their dogs caged and some of the facilities will have swimming pools and TVs.
JFK is one of the busiest airports in the world, with 50m people a year landing and taking off from its runways.
