Bulgari Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Dubai-based real estate development company Meraas Holding for a new hotel in Dubai to be opened in 2017.
This luxury property will be the fifth Bulgari Hotels and Resorts property. Designed by Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners, it will be located on the exclusive Jumeira Bay Island, off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Road and the land it has been built on has been created in the shape an enormous seahorse. The luxury marine 1.7 million sq ft. complex will be framed by lush landscaped gardens and it will be defined by 100 rooms and suites, 20 residential villas, 165 apartments, 8 penthouses (which will be offered for sale within days), 15 mansions as well as a 50-berth marina and Bulgari yacht club.
Bulgari Dubai will join other fashion house branded hotels including Giorgio Armani and Gianni Versace where attractions include fine dining, hot weather, four theme parks and the world’s largest Ferris wheel.
“If you have a manmade island like this, there is an attraction,” said Cherif Hosny, chief hospitality officer at Meraas. “We are planning to attract a niche market for this project.” The Bvlgari residences are generating interest from Gulf, European, Chinese and Indian investors, according to Silvio Ursini, executive vice president at Bvlgari. The company, known for its watches and jewellery, already operates hotels in Milan, Bali and London and plans to have about 20 hotels in the next five to seven years in cities including their Shanghai and Beijing hotels that are also due to open in 2017. It already has a presence in Bali, London and Milan and of course, all hotel rooms in these hotels will be accompanied by a full range of luxury Bulgari amenities.
