Scarfes Bar in London’s Rosewood hotel was recently named the Best Hotel Bar at the European Design Awards. It takes it’s name from the cartoonist Gerald Scarf, who’s sketches decorate the walls at the Rosewood Hotel in London. This must visit bar is a mix of dark woods, muted lighting, roaring fires and traditional furniture. Behind the bar there is a “library” of spirit bottles and on other walls are what seems like a library of books. Huge prison-cage style spherical lights hang from the ceiling.
Certainly this is a wonderful destination for a pre dinner beverage or a post dinner desert wine, whether it is the best hotel bar in London is a matter of personal taste. I still love the intimacy and red tones of the Amaranto Bar at the Four Seasons London, Park Lane, but that doesnt mean that I wont be trying this award winner next time I am up in the smoke.
