Yes you read this title correctly, Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel. And the opening date for your luxury travel diary? 8th May 2015.
This has literally just been announced and as I was planning to stop in at this iconic Grande Damme anyway I have now added the new Four Seasons version of this superb hotel to my “absolutely must visit as soon as possible” list.
Why is this exciting? This will be the second Four Seasons hotel in France and what a location, location, location. Perched on the end of the Cap Ferrrat peninsula this is and always has been one of the top hotels on Côte d’Azur and it stands out, even from the air, being easy to spot as you come in to land at Nice Airport. This truly grand hotel is a white palace set amid 17 acres of pine filled gardens and overlooking the Mediterranean. The classic rooms are currently designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, the Club Dauphin leisure complex with swimming pool at the water’s edge (accessed by funicular), is a highlight. Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat has played host to world leaders, including George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, and being a destination unto itself; many guests choose not to leave at all and simply laze by the pool or wander the grounds by day and to the bars and restaurants by night.
I have waited a long waited for a Four Seasons experience to appear on the water’s edge of the Côte d’Azur. There are now just a few weeks left to wait!
Rates are currently €340 for a Superior Pine View Room and over €600 a night for a view of the sea. You can’t yet book rooms directly on the Four Seasons website but it seems likely that the Four Seasons will charge similar or more. As always in life, you generally get what you pay for.
Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat also features in my pick of the best destinations in Europe for 2017 and my best destinations in the world. Read more about the best beaches and luxury hotels around the world.
