Cocoon Resort and Villas Review, Sri Lanka

Cocoon Resort and Villas

Located In Sri Lanka

I often find that excellent hospitality and friendly, efficient service can turn a luxury hotel stay into a wonderful vacation and this is the case at the Cocoon Resort and Villas in Induruwa, Sri Lanka. Located 65km south of Colombo and near to the Island’s water sports capital and the popular tourist destination of Bentota, the resort and its staff offer a really personal service and welcoming feel. Transfer tip: it takes about two and a half hours from the airport by road, but if you take a Sea Plane Transfer (much more fun too!) it takes just 30 minutes.

Cocoon Resort features 26 luxurious villas and rooms spread over a generous 8 ½ acres of manicured lawns, neat little pathways and steps and lush green forested land. Each room has been individually designed and beautifully decorated with the ornate rich golds and vibrant colours of Sri Lanka. As you would expect, all accommodation features comfortable king-sized beds, stocked mini bars, TV, internet, robes, toiletries and 24 hour room service. There are three levels of villa to choose from: Luxury Villas; Extravagant Villas which feature an open-air Jacuzzi set in the middle of your terrace; and the Grand Villas which feature their own rather fabulous private pools with massage jets and ledge seats. Alternatively you can choose to stay in a Silk Room in the main building which features either a terrace or balcony depending on the floor.

In terms of dining at the Cocoon Resort you have a choice of delicious traditional Tandoor dishes at the Khana Pina authentic Indian restaurant; pizza baked in a clay oven from the Pizzeria; intimate dinners in the plush “Garden Wadiya”; or you can treat yourself to a private barbeque on your own terrace courtesy of Cocoon Resorts own chefs. Dining Tip: book a meal under the stars at the private beach with only the waves lapping against the shore for company, truly remarkable.

If you’re looking to unwind during your stay, the resort has a spa quaintly called ‘The Bath’ that’s hidden in the depths of the garden offers some wonderful Ayurvedic treatments and for those looking to keep fit, the resort has a small gymnasium as well as a selection of indoor sports activities. If you want to soak up the sunshine there is of course the main resort pool as well as regular shuttles that will take you to the private beach if you would prefer a refreshing dip in the ocean. In the evenings, the resort also features ‘The Stage’ which offers traditional Sri Lankan entertainment such as the Kandyan drummers and the soothing sounds of ‘Batanala’, the beautiful Sri Lankan flute.

So, next time you visit Sri Lanka and you’re looking for somewhere luxurious to stay with outstanding service then you really should consider the Cocoon Resort and Villas and for the ultimate treat book into one of their Grand Villas as the private pool really does make your stay!
