This week, my attention has been drawn to the popularity of frequent flier and frequent traveller mile point collecting. This is really one big game and if you learn how to play it correctly you can travel around the world in business or first for a fraction of the rack rates.

So how do you learn about the best ways to collect and spend your points? You can use popular forums like flyertalk, BoardingArea and in the UK Headforpoints which outlines everything you could ever need to know about Avios point collecting. If this isnt enough, how about attending Frequent Traveller University? This is not an official University (obviously) but is a hugely popular frequent flier event held monthly in the USA. The event will give you the insider information on how to best collect and spend frequent flier miles. You will come away knowing the absolutely best way to get the most out of your miles

You will be taught how to earn more miles, whether through travel or special offers, such as credit cards and double-points deals, and how to use those miles to your advantage. On these two day events, attendees hear from some of the world’s best-known travel bloggers and industry experts about how they stay within budget while maximizing their travel opportunities. You’ll leave the weekend with a better understanding of the loyalty programs you care about, as well as a variety of tips and tricks to make your miles take you further.

There are also social events and informal get togethers where you can meet new friends that share your passion for travel and points and network with new milers.

At Luxury Travel Diary we have our own luxury travel event, the London Hyatt Event taking place at the Hyatt Churchill in October 2015 with lots of prizes and freebies, so feel free to join us!

We will also be setting up some frequent flier mile collecting events on this side of the pond so do keep an eye on my luxury travel blog for updates!
