Kyrimai Hotel, Mani Greece Review

Kyrimai Hotel

Located In Greece

The Kyrimai Hotel Gerolimenas, Mani is a member of Tresor Hotels and is tucked away in a small bay that is both stunning and magical. As you approach the small port of Gerolimenas in Mesa Mani, you can spot Kyrimai Hotel. The Kyrimai Hotel is listed as a member of the Historic Hotels of Europe due to the beautifully restored building that the hotel occupies. The building was constructed almost 130 years ago by Michalis Katsimandis – a merchant from Syros – and Theodore Kyrimis also a merchant and mayor of the Mesa Mani area. Their aim was to give a boost to the whole area and put it on the commercial map of what was considered to be Greek territory back then. Their initial idea was successfully realized with boats coming and going from the small port of Gerolimenas, full of local products from the region of Mani which became more and more well-known internationally. The reception of the hotel used to be the cellar and wood storage ad hideout for the owners. Nowadays, the hotel owner Alexandros Kyrimis will welcome you with his stories and through his fascinating narration, you will feel a lot more than just another guest of the hotel.

The hotel decor combines tradition with contemporary comforts and discreet luxury. Newly and beautifully refurbished rooms and suites emit an elegant air. The natural light highlights the handpicked furnishings and decorative ornaments. Country chic styling has been selected to portray the stone walls with earthy colors and pure linen fabrics form the perfect backdrop to the scenery outside. You get the feeling that you are staying in an old Greek castle but with modern luxuries, a great bathroom, and air conditioning! I recommend booking a superior room as this gets you a private balcony to sit out on with a table and chairs.

The homemade breakfast is excellent with local meats and cheeses and wonderful honey served on the wooden veranda that sits just above the rocky beach so that you can take in the breathtaking views, the lapping waves, and the sea breeze. The colors are amazing particularly during sunrise & sunset. After breakfast, walk barefoot to the shore and dip your toes in the deep blue Aegean Sea. Evening dining can be taken at the hotel’s atmospheric restaurant with culinary creations from award-winning chef Christoforos Peskias who produces Greek cuisine with a twist, including delicious greek salads and seafood pasta accompanied by equally delicious wines.

The island of Mani’s little-traveled eastern side, as well as its stony heart, can also be explored from this seductive hotel. Discover secret coves, ancient churches, and the Diros Caves. Doubles from an unbelievable €90 EUR B&B. This hotel is the rarest of things, a luxury bargain, and a true Grecian gem.
