Jitterbug Jewellery

News : Style

Love it or loathe it, Valentine’s day is just around the corner and in my efforts to inspire and delight my readers I have the awful job of choosing jewellery that I would be thrilled to receive as a token of love, from my other half. I start with handmade Jitterbug Jewellery which I just love. Rachel designs and makes each piece by hand and I particularly love her multi strand necklaces where 3 strands hang down at just the perfect length making your necklace a real feature of your outfit.

In a quick meet up with Rachel I asked here where the idea of Jitterbug Jewellery came from and how it is produced:

“When I was young, my grandfather told me a true story about him fighting in Asia and how he rescued a Burmese princess. As a token of gratitude from the princess’s father, he was given a number of rare and precious jewels. I became a tiny bit obsessed with jewellery from then on. I did a number of short courses over the years but it wasn’t until about 2 years ago that I actually thought about becoming a designer and maker. So I decided to retrain (I had previously been in marketing) and I enrolled on a diploma course in Jewellery Manufacturing in Hatton Garden, London and from there launched Jitterbug Jewellery earlier this year.

My jewellery is all designed and made by me in my studio at home. I have a real love of gemstones (who doesn’t!) as well as being a bit of a colour fanatic so search out striking colours and stones from around the world to help create my pieces. My ‘Colour Me Happy: launch collection naturally has colour at its heart and is both laid back glam and elegant in its style; sterling silver and 18ct gold plated multi-strand bracelets made with rich colour wash combinations of Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones in pinks, greens and mauves to golds, sapphire and peacock blues. Layered sterling silver necklaces and a mix of 9ct gold and sterling silver multi strand earrings that are simple, stylish and sparkle from the semi-precious stones that adorn them.
I/m a real believer that gemstones should be worn as an everyday luxe, so I have created pieces that are fun and individual in style as well as being versatile, so look as stunning with a T-shirt and jeans as they do with a cocktail dress. Above all, I want to emulate all the beauty and magic of gemstones & crystals in sparkling timeless pieces of jewellery.”

Forget the factory made big brand jewellery options, Jitterbug Jewellery will give you a stunning and unique piece made with love, and isn’t that what Valentine’s Day is all about?
