Book A Stay

The The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa situated in Livingstone in Zambia is one of The Explorer Club Africa’s Signature Properties.

Location

The lodge itself is set inside Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, which is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, buffalo, giraffes, and baboons.

Rooms

The lodge consists of 77 rooms en-suite rooms, five of which are suites, three are interconnected (perfect for families), and two rooms comfortably cater to disabled needs. Most rooms look out over the mighty Zambezi River, and all guests have a private balcony where they can enjoy a leisurely sundowner whilst taking in the view.

Each of the luxury guestrooms has been decorated in a minimalist style with beautiful pieces of African artwork and design. In-room amenities include air-conditioning, satellite TV (not that you’ll need it, simply look out of the window to enjoy the breathtaking views and wildlife), in-room mini-bar, coffee/tea butler, safe, hairdryer, telephone, separate bath and shower and of course your own private balcony.

Tips: rooms further from the reception and restaurant are quieter, and rooms on the second floor have better views. While all the rooms are very comfortable, it’s worth spending that little bit extra on a suite (if you can afford it) as they feature an in-room Jacuzzi where you can simply sit-back in the bubbles and watch the Zambezi flow by… If you are looking for something totally unique, ask for a room overlooking ‘Charlie’, their resident crocodile!

Service & Facilities

The lodge features a swimming pool and offers wireless internet access in all public areas, 24-hour room service, wake-up calls, babysitting service, laundry service, and shuttles that operate daily. Room Tips: rooms further from the reception and restaurant are quieter, and rooms on the second floor have better views.

The lodge has its own onsite Gym and Award-Winning Spa & Wellness Centre voted Best Safari Spa in Africa and featured in Conde Nast Johansens’ 2015 Collection. The Spa has breathtaking, panoramic views of Zambezi River and Victoria Falls and is run by a professionally trained team of therapists offering treatments including intensive sports massages, mud wraps, facials, and manicures.

Activities available to guests include bungee jumping; white water rafting; abseiling; bird and game watching; fishing; game drives; walking, horse riding, or elephant-back safaris; walking with lions, as well as visits to local craft markets and tours to the Victoria Falls.

However, a stay at the lodge wouldn’t be complete without a sunset cruise on The Lady Livingstone. Lavishly decked for the utmost comfort, the five-star Lady Livingstone is a one hundred and forty-four seat, three-deck river cruiser perfect for relaxing with a few drinks whilst spotting elephants, hippos, and crocodiles on the Zambezi (all local beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, and snacks are included in your cruise).

Food & Drink

There are several dining options at The David Livingstone Safari Lodge: The Pool Deck / Gwembe Terrace overlooks the river and provides a true gastronomic experience in a relaxed and casual atmosphere, perfect for sitting back and enjoying a magnificent African sunset while sipping on a cocktail. In the main lodge, Kalai Restaurant creates contemporary and traditional Afro-Arabian fusion dishes in a traditional buffet restaurant setting. Finally, the Ujiji Bar is a great place to relax, with a wide selection of South African and international wines and unique cocktails created by skilled bar butlers.

Conclusion
