If you have been following my blog you will know that I am choosing to return to the beautiful Lech am Arlberg for my winter ski trip.
My skiing doesnt quite merit participating in the White Ring in Lech am Arlberg – the most legendary ski race in the world. However, for the 1,000 participants of the White Ring sporting challenge, the weather was perfect with blue sunshine over the 22 km of ski runs.
The tenth edition of the race brought the closest decision in individual standings. Last year’s winner Riccardo Rädler won with 0.08 seconds ahead of ski legend Pepi Strobl. The displacement of the race from Saturday to Sunday also proved to be a good decision. The atmosphere in the finish area was terrific due to great weather and the perfectly prepared slopes.
Representing team Aurelio, (The Hotel Aurelio is one of the hotels we have chosen to stay in for our ski holiday) was ex-skier Rainer Schoenfelder, founder and CEO of Intermap AG Claudia Zitt and Intermaps CEO Christian Vonach as well as Managing Director of Sport for Good Foundation Laureus Germany, Paul Schif.
Lech Zurs donates a part of the entry fees to its charity partner, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Germany/ Austria. Thanks to the generous commitment of Mercedes-Benz,“ Tiroler Nussöl”, Air Independence, Betsafe and the Hotel Aurelio – Home of Laureus Sport for Good in Austria – 70,000 euros were raised. The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation uses the power of sport to induce social change. Currently the Laureus Foundation supports 13 social sports projects in Germany and Austria.
