The destinations I have chosen to travel to in 2015 are based on my experience of luxury travel and my own personal preferences. I hope they inspire your travels around our beautiful planet!
I can’t resist a quit trip to my capital at this time of year. This is the perfect time for shopping in London at the sales, there’s so much to do you hardly notice the grey skys. I am choosing the Four Seasons Canary Wharf for my trip as I love the river views and pool there. Staying in Canary Wharf gives a different perspective of London. Four Seasons London Park Lane is an excellent choice for a central London location.
Early February: Johannesburg
My team will be experiencing the new Four Seasons hotel in Johannesburg. I am always excited about a new hotel opening and this one looks fabulous!
February: Monte Carlo, Monaco
Why? Even at this time of year, when the sun shines you can laze outside in a t-shirt. There’s always an event to enjoy too – the decorations for valentines in all the luxury hotels are fantastic. Because it is so quiet, you don’t wait for a seat at Cafe de Paris and can enjoy the best hotels at less expense. I’ll be swimming outside at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, sipping beers at the Metropole Monte Carlo, enjoying Michelin star dining at the Hermitage Monte Carlo and lazing on the balcony at the Monte Carlo Bay hotel. Bliss.
I also popped over to the Park Hyatt Vienna in February which was another great experience!
Southern Europe is happily warming up in May, this year I have chosen to “do” the best luxury hotels in Venice. I will be trying the brand new JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa which sits on its own private island and is the new luxury hot spot in Venice. I’ll also be checking out the Aman Canal Grande Venice along with most of the other high end establishments .
Early Summer: London &Cornwall
I can’t resist spending at least part of my Summer in the green and pleasant land of England. London for shoes and fine dining, Cornwall a magical Seaside trip. This year I will be heading to St Ives to stay at the luxury boutique waterfront cottage St Ives House for afew nights and then stopping in at the beachside Trevalsa Court Hotel. A truly British bucket and spade trip with a smattering of National Trust houses but all done in a bit of stylish luxury!
One of the only places in Europe with warm enough sunshine in November that you can swim outside. I will be gracing The Marbella Club, Kempinski Hotel Bahia and Puente Romano. Cannes is a must for the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM). For Christmas I won’t be able to resist returning once again for a “Monaco Christmas” and Christmas Eve at the Hermitage.
December: Zurich and Lech
No winter is complete without swishing down the slopes on a ski trip. I choose to start off in Zurich which is a vibrant and wealthy Swiss town with wonderful dining and hotels and the perfect stop off before hitting the slopes. I like to stay at the Park Hyatt Zurich, a modern luxury hotel with a super lobby bar.
The train ride from Zurich to Langen am Arlberg is breathtaking as you climb snowy hills, and Lech is a picture perfect Austrian ski village set high in snow sure mountains. It’s a favourite of many billionaires and of the late Princess Diana. I’m stopping in at three of their most beautiful hotels, Hotel Aurelio, Almhof Schneider and the Kristina Lech.
But there are never enough days in the year are there? How about the temptation of St Tropez in the summer? Hawaii or Dubai for the winter? And how about all the new hotels that are opening and need to be road tested… Well there is always 2016…
Have a wonderful 2015 wherever you choose to travel to.
