Valentine’s Breaks 2015

I never need an excuse to book a romantic Valentine’s break even though I will freely admit that I am not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day itself. On Valentine’s Day  you are forced to show your love for your partner with a gift. What happened to romantic spontaneity? Plus I am not a fan of flowers, they look great for a day, then require effort to keep them alive and after a a couple of days they are a smelly mess in slimy water. Finally if you are single, Valentine’s Day really rubs your nose in the fact that you don’t have that special someone to share it with. Having had my rant, I have booked my Valentine’s break and here is my list of perfect Valentine’s breaks for to inspire you for 2015.

I am starting close to home, and if you like the city I can’t think of a better London hotel to treat yourself and your partner, than the Four Seasons London on Park Lane. The rooms are sumptuous (in fact even their corridors are sumptuous), their Amaranto bar is dusky and romantic and the soft deep red chairs suck you in as the staff magically keep refilling your glass. For your meal you have the famous Nobu a few steps away, The Square (a personal favourite) a short walk away, and if you just want to stay in the hotel, the restaurant has a tempting menu and delightful staff. Book a suite for a real treat, although even their standard rooms are fabulous and all have the signature Four Seasons bathrooms.

The Greenway Hotel and Spa in the Cotswolds has the most romantic in eave suites and a super bar and restaurant as well as an excellent spa and pool. Take your walking boots as you can walk out of the extensive and well-tended back garden and straight up the nearest hill. Fantastic, romantic, love it!

I realise you might be bored with my adoration of Monaco but this is where my hubby and I will be heading for Valentine’s Day. Stay at the Metropole Monte Carlo as their interior designer does the most magical flower displays (I like flowers if I don’t have to tend to them) and even better magical decorations. Last year there was a pretty netting that you could pin your Valentines messages to and you could read other people’s messages. There were some beautiful and heartfelt messages posted and reading them bought an annoyingly sentimental tear to my eye! There is also a snazzy and warm pool, one of the best bars in the world, and Joel Robuchon’s restaurant to tempt you for a meal without even having to leave the hotel.

Is this the romantic island in the world? I think so. Take your romantic break at the Four Seasons Maui. Spend the day being spritzed under a parasol on the beach. As the sun sets, sip an alfresco cocktail or beer, nibble on a wasabi and let the warm Hawaiian breeze heavy with the scent of gardenia tickle your hair. To finish off book in a snapper at Wolfgang Pucks Spago restaurant. Life doesn’t get more magical!
