If you enjoy taking a cold shower whilst ripping up £50 notes, an activity similar to owning a boat, then this weeks London Boat Show is for you! The Boat Show opened on Friday 10th January at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London Docklands, and runs through to Sunday 18th.
The UK is a major player in the global leisure boating industry, which generates an astonishing £3bn in revenue. The UK is where world-renowned brands, including Fairline Boats and Sunseeker are produced and apparently 100,000 people will visit and potentially purchase this year.
Brands confirmed include Beneteau, Jeanneau, Legend Yachts, Princess Yachts, Sunseeker International and Fairline Boats, Topper Sailboats, RS Sailing, Reid Marine, Hartley Laminates, Bavaria, Sealine, Sessa, Cooperyacht, Bayliner, Cobra Ribs, Ribeye, Williams Performance Tenders, Musto, Sunsail, Flexisail.
The Four Seasons Canary Wharf is the best hotel in the Docklands offering fabulous river views a stones throw from the large and modern underground Canary Wharf shopping centre. Also nearby are numerous riverside restaurants including Royal China an excellent Chinese and Memsaheb on Thames a short taxi ride away and my favourite Indian restaurant (it’s also a favourite of Delia Smith).
For a more central stay, I recommend the Four Seasons London on Park Lane or the terribly British Langham which are both great choices. A taxi from the centre of London to Docklands is around £40 or you can take a lengthy tube and Docklands Light Rail across town.
