Les Deux Chevres
Les Deux Chevres is a unique, boutique hotel and holiday rental property situated in the world famous wine village of Gevrey Chambertin, just south of Dijon. Surrounded on two sides by ancient vineyards, the eight-bedroom boutique hotel is lovingly run by husband and wife team: Paul and Jolanta. Full of knowledge about the area, the wines, local restaurants and more, Paul and Jolanta will go out of their way to make your stay truly memorable.
The hotel is beautifully furnished with antiques and decorated with a vast array of original artwork throughout. Within the hotel there is a formal salon which can be used for private dining, an informal lobby for drinks around the log fire, and a comfortable reception area where drinks are also served. To the rear of the property is a large terrace with stunning uninterrupted views over the Combe de Lavaux, perfect to enjoy a glass of wine whilst drinking in the view.
There is a choice of three levels of guest room: the Superior Double Room featuring king or super king size bed, en-suite bathroom and views of the surrounding vineyards; the Comfort Double Room with king or queen size bed, en-suite bathroom overlooking the vineyards, garden or courtyard and finally the Standard Double Room with king or queen size bed, en-suite shower room (no bath) with views of Rue de L’Eglise or the courtyard. Please note that a Tourist Tax of €0.40 EUR per adult per night must be paid on departure. All rooms have a TV and free wifi access and come with a complimentary continental buffet breakfast. Room Tip: the rooms on the second floor in the main building have the best views.
For larger groups of guests wishing to stay there is a luxury 2/3 bedroom apartment and 5 bedroom Main House that can be rented by the week, both with stunning views over the surrounding vineyards.
As well as the continental buffet breakfast the hotel can also provide a light picnic lunch comprising of local artisan cheeses, saucisson and salad upon request and throughout the day the hotel serves a selection of soft drinks and wines on the terrace. Although the hotel does not provide evening meals there are two good restaurants within walking distance in the village: Chez Guy and Bistro Lucien as well as a local pizzeria. However, if you are seeking fine French dining, the hotel is just 12km from the centre of Dijon where you will find both a one and a two star Michelin restaurant. Be advised that you should make restaurant reservations in advance, especially in high season and at weekends, and Paul and Jolanta are more than happy to help with this.
There are several French towns and cities nearby that are worth visiting including: Beaune, a beautiful walled medieval city full of wineries, restaurants and history (also the second most visited city in France!) and Dijon with its museums and antique quarter. During your stay you can also enjoy wine tasting from the cellars of the vignerons (wine producers), some of whom can trace their heritage back to the time of the monks! A car would be recommended to visit the nearby towns but for local trips the hotel can provide up to 5 bicycles free of charge by prior arrangement.
At just 6 hours from London St Pancras (if you take an early train you can be in Dijon for lunch!), Les Deux Chevres is the ideal break-away destination, rich in comfort, culture, history and excellent hospitality.
