At this time of year, in fact in the autumn, the winter and the spring, I like to dream about perfect tropical beaches and clear blue waters. Coco Bodu Hithi fits this dreamscape perfectly. Re-opened in 2006 following a multi-million dollar investment this luxury 5 star hotel offers a glorious island paradise.
Lush green vegetation engulfs you on the centre of the island with plenty of tall palm trees dotted around the reception for shade. Sand paths wind around the island tempting you to skip (or is that just me?) between the palms to and from the cool infinity pool, along to the beautiful thatched over water spa or over to grab a bite at a number of chic restaurants. “Air” which is buffet & set-menu style, overlooks the the infinity pool and is open all day, while the romantic over water Aqua specialises in seafood with a hint of Asian. Alternatively dine on the beach at the al fresco Breezes after a drink at the Latitude Bar.
As you would expect, there is Wifi, snorkelling is excellent, there are loads of fish and it is soup warm! The is also an over water gym and a tennis court hidden beneath the palms
Every room type at Coco Bodu Hithi has it’s own private pool. Island Villas enjoy a private garden, living area, and a huge bathtub right in the centre of the room. The rest of the villas here are over water. Water Villas and Escape Water Villas have a separate living room and are set off a jetty, while Escape Water Residences sit off an oval decking at the far end of the island. My suggestion is to start off in an Island Villa and finish with a few days in a Water Villa where you can literally plop out of your villa and into the warm sea! In fact, request a sunset over water villa and you never need to leave. Simply curl up and gaze at the blue as your pool merges seamlessly into the sky and the sea. When evening approaches, why not order room service and gorge on the reef fish delicacies, lobster and home-made rose petal ice-cream, while taking in the supercharged sunset on your own private over-water deck. Yum and Ahhh!
