Book A Hotel

My ski holiday this year will be in the lovely Arlberg region of Austria, specifically Lech and Zurs. I’ve been to Lech many times before but keep coming back for the picture-perfect snow-dusted Austrian village, the skiing, and the wonderful hotels. This year’s hotel choice includes the truly luxury ski hotel Aurelio in Lech.

The luxury 5 Star Superior Hotel & Spa Aurelio in Lech is about to embrace its seventh winter season. The hotel opens its elegant doors on December 4th for anybody looking for a unique winter adventure.

And what a location! The hotel lies right next to the Schlegelkopf-Piste, the main run into the village. Life doesn’t get any more ski-in ski-out. The main part of the hotel comprises 10 voguish wood-clad Alpine bedrooms with south-facing balconies that are sunny all day long. 9 additional rooms are situated in the ‘Club & Chalet’ annex connected to the two main buildings via a tunnel. All harmonically combine modern elegance with classical interior design elements. The whole interior decoration of the classy winter chalet was created by one of the leading interior designers, Mlinaric, Henry & Zervudachi.

Each room and suite has been designed differently and yet integrates perfectly into the alpine village culture with its traditions, “its hospitality and its healthy way of living which are, altogether, elements of a good living standard up here” says Tino Zervudachi. Wooden elements on the floors and on the walls form the typical flare of a cozy winter chalet. Each of the 19 accommodations comes with a spacious South-facing sunny balcony with a beautiful prospect of the snow-covered mountains. Both of the Aurelio suites, each 110 m2 tall, consist of one bedroom, one dressing room, a comfortable common area, and a stylish bathroom. “Due to the combination of natural elements, customized furnishings, and a nice mixture of antique and modern pieces, we managed to create a comfortable ambiance without the abandonment of decent luxury.”

The rooms and common areas are kept in pure white, crème, and beige shades, which create a comforting atmosphere. Wooden elements on the walls and on the floors mirror the alpine charm of the surrounding mountain chains and provide a cozy and homelike ambiance. The furnishings are mostly tailor-made pieces, a mélange of antique and modern furniture that combine elegance and discreet luxury. The deliberate simplicity of the design and the variety of the rooms’ decorations make the hotel feel like home. The first shafts of bright sunlight can be caught on the big south terrace with a great prospect of the world-famous Schlegelkopf Piste.

Another highlight is the Aurelio Spa: “Modern, clean, and exclusive – that’s what we wanted it to be”, says Zervudachi. Extensive light installations by the design label Lichtkompetenz from Zurich form a shiny heaven full of stars above the 23×18 m long indoor pools. The rest of the wellness area made use of pure colors and shapes, kept simple and austere, which enables the guests to completely relax in the calm ambiance. On a total area of 1,000 m2, the guests experience a holistic wellness concept, including a thermal suite with different infrared saunas, cooling-off ponds, relaxation areas, a spacious sauna zone, a pool with light and sound therapy, a herbal steam bath, a Jacuzzi and adventure showers.

The free-standing Clubhouse is connected to the main hotel building via a subterraneous corridor, guarantees complete privacy, and is available for exclusive rental.  The huge living room with a fireplace in the Clubhouse is the perfect place to quietly reevaluate the past day of skiing accompanied by the cracking noise of the warm fire. For breakfast, guests may either visit the hotel restaurant “Aurelio’s” or dine in the exclusive atmosphere of the chalet while a personal butler takes care of their private needs and longings.

The ambitions of the design team were, right from the beginning, very high: “Inconspicuous elegance, comfort, and high-class chic were our objectives for the Aurelio. The Luxury Ski Hotel Aurelio in Lech achieves this and more. If you’re looking for a wonderful winter holiday in decadent luxury, if you are looking for “effortless chic” in the center of the slopes, the Luxury Ski Hotel & Spa Aurelio in Lech gives you all this with glittering snow-coated Austrian cowbells on.
