I had a hot flush when I found out about this potential new hotel opening!
The news is now official, see my article on Four Seasons Resort Oahu At Ko Olina.
– The JW Marriott Ihilani hotel in Oahu is set to close next year. Official news tells us that the hotel will be shut for 2015 and will then reopen under “one of the top luxury resort brands in the world.”
– Canadian-based Four Seasons Hotel & Resorts has registered a new business in Hawaii named FS Ko Olina Inc. earlier this year,
We, therefore, draw the conclusion that this will become the Four Seasons Oahu.
Up to now, there have really only been two luxury hotel choices on Oahu. The Halekulani, part of the Leading Hotels group and a superb hotel but based in the hectic and noisy Waikiki. Don’t get me wrong, Waikiki is a fantastic place to stay for a short stay and this is a beautiful hotel, but to really enjoy Hawaii, you must also stay somewhere that enables you to enjoy a quieter pace of life. The only option slightly out of Waikiki is the Kahala Hotel & Resort, also part of Leading Hotels on the other side of Diamond head and 5 minutes drive from Waikiki. Again, lovely but hardy “getting away from it all”. This new opening means we have a luxury hotel choice on the West Coast of Oahu, far away from the crowds where we can enjoy some blissful relaxing.
