The Intercontinental is our favorite hotel in Cannes. It offers a stylish if somewhat faded glamour. It is good value for the location, right in the center of the main boulevard le Croisette.
A grand marble foyer adorned with flowers and showcases full of diamonds and expensive watches fronts the hotel, creating a luxurious atmosphere that leaves you excitedly anticipating the splendor of your room. But unfortunately, it’s the rooms that let the hotel down. Although they are large, they are tired and dated and in need of renovation. Thankfully this is reflected in the price, and as all the 5-star hotels are similar in quality, this is our first choice for now.
The highlight is the Intercontinental private beach just across the road from the hotel, small but stylish with excellent staff attending your sunbeds, but the price has stopped us ever actually using it – watch out at around €55 EUR per person per sunbed! Ouch!
Its well worth investing $200 USD to become an Intercontinental Ambassador. You will then receive a guaranteed room upgrade and free second night on a weekend stay (only certain room rates apply), as well as collecting points towards future stays.
This is particularly worthwhile in the summer when the room rates are high, and you can combine the free night with the automatic upgrade to get a reasonable room. We received a room on the side of the building – you could hang out the window and see the sea.
Fresh fruit upon arrival, in-room water, in-room gift, single-room rate for double occupancy, extended checkout—up to 4 pm, complimentary pay-TV film per stay, complimentary newspaper, delivered daily, elite status in IHG Rewards Club (i.e., you immediately become platinum for any holiday inn stays) 5,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points in addition to collecting points for this stay.
If you intend to book direct, drop me an email as our partner agent offers 3% cashback for all intercontinental hotels whilst retaining your Ambassador perks.
