Book A Hotel

We have reviewed hotels in Chengdu, in China’s Sichuan province, and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport CTU with the best club or executive lounges. Whether you are traveling as a couple, a family, or as a single business traveler, I conclude which hotel has the best club lounge in Chengdu.

Sichuan capital, Chengdu, has been called the San Francisco of China. From the buzzing entertainment district to the cultural highlights, there is plenty to do. Don’t miss the Pandas during your stay in Chengdu. Most luxury hotels can arrange a private trip to the Chengdu Panda Base, one of China’s premier research facilities for breeding giant pandas.

If you want to stay in luxury in Chengdu, if your budget allows, you should consider staying at one of the best luxury hotels in the city. These include The Temple House (no lounge), The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu (has a lounge), Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu (with a lounge), and St. Regis Chengdu. There is no lounge at this St. Regis, but there is a complimentary Happy Hour for Platinum Marriott Bonvoy members, and this hotel has a very nice pool area for a city hotel.

I have compiled a list below containing the club lounges available across luxury hotels in Chengdu, China. I list the lounges that I consider to be the best of the best. I will be reviewing each of these hotel club lounges in detail so that you know what you’ll get if you book a room with club lounge access or get upgraded to a club lounge for free because of your loyalty status.

1. The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu

The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu is a luxurious base from which to experience the city’s numerous attractions and the best in dining, shopping, and entertainment.

Perched on the site of what was once an imperial palace, The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu pays homage to the historical splendor of the city’s rich past. This 5-star hotel offers opulent accommodation and a serene spa, as well as fine dining at Li Xuan and prime placement in Chengdu’s lively downtown district, a short distance from landmarks, including Tianfu Square.

Book a Club Room located on levels 38 to 41, which features free access to the Club Lounge (pictured above) for up to 2 guests. The Club Level rooms in Chengdu feature impressive views of Tianfu Square in addition to spacious walk-in closets, paired washbasins, separate showers and bathtubs, and more. Ritz-Carlton Club® Suites feature 800-thread-count bedding, state-of-the-art amenities, and personal wake-up service for the ultimate Ritz-Carlton experience.

The Club Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu, is located on the 38th floor with sweeping panoramic views and features a dedicated butler and concierge staff. This exclusive suite offers global cuisine throughout the day (breakfast, light snacks, hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and sweets), prepared to order at live cooking stations. Private meeting rooms are available upon request.

This is the best club lounge in Chengdu. Ritz-Carlton club lounges are generally the best executive club lounges in most cities because of their numerous (5) food offerings and generally luxurious decor. This is also your best Marriott Bonvoy hotel choice in Chengdu.

An overview of the features of this club lounge includes:

2. Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu

Towering over the Jinjiang River, the 36-story Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu offers a top-tier stay in Sichuan province’s capital. Gallery-worthy oil paintings by renowned Chinese artists line the dramatic lobby, while panoramic windows reveal the Hejiang Pavilion and gardens just beyond.

Balance your life force at CHI, The Spa, or take a dip in the tranquil pool and, afterward, dine on authentic Chinese and international fare. The 593 accommodations are the largest in the city center, with modern furnishings and mind-boggling views; consider a Horizon Club Level room to take advantage of the exclusive executive club lounge.

Special Horizon Club amenities and privileges include complimentary breakfast and cocktails in the Horizon Club Lounge, express check-in and check-out service, personal butler service, and more. This club lounge is on the 30th floor, with a great view of the Anhui Bridge. It is very good with free breakfast and afternoon happy hours and snacks along with the helpful and very efficient staff.

3. Grand Hyatt Chengdu

The Grand Hyatt Chengdu is a stunning hotel in Chengdu. As you enter the lobby, you may be forgiven for thinking you have walked into a Park Hyatt rather than a Grand Hyatt. The foyer is simply stunning (although lacking in natural light), with lots of muted lighting, stylish lamps, and cream sofas. If you like flower arrangements, which I do, they are utterly indulgent and enormous here. Facilities also include a decent gym with no views and a very stylish pool, an excellent spa, as well as restaurants and bars.

This is a great hotel to select if you are a Globalist World of Hyatt member, as the upgrades tend to be fairly generous here, with lucky guests reporting on upgrades right up to a suite as well as a fruit plate welcome amenity.

The rooms are really nice here, with great views and decor that is more like that of a Park Hyatt than a Grand Hyatt, and toiletries from June Jacobs in the bathrooms.

If you are a Globalist, you will get free club lounge access here. Otherwise, you need to book a club room to gain access and exclusive privileges. Club Room guests automatically enjoy complimentary breakfast at the Grand Cafe on the lobby level, which offers a glorious and extravagant array of buffet food from fruit to salad, smoked salmon to cold cuts, cereal to bread, and, of course, hot options like eggs as well as Asian options.

You will also get access to the Grand Club Lounge on the 37th floor from 6:30 am – 11:00 pm. There is no breakfast in the club lounge, but cocktails and “light bites” are served, and you can enjoy soft drinks (warm and cold) and snacks throughout the day. The snacks are whole fruit, cake, and cookies.

The evening food is more snacks than a full meal with crisps and tasty dips, almonds, mini quiches, loads of salad and cold cuts and cheese, plus smoked salmon, and a daily special like chicken on skewers. Pudding is a mix of cakes, fruit, and creamy desserts. Alcohol is a full range of spirits and wines, including Prosecco and beer.

The lounge’s decor is less Park Hyatt and more Grand Hyatt, with restaurant-style seating around tables, high stools around benches, and lots of mirrors on the walls.

4. InterContinental Century City Chengdu

An exciting new landmark in the capital of Sichuan Province, the InterContinental Chengdu hotel combines the best of all worlds. Renowned for its authentic Sichuan hospitality, the hotel features luxurious guest rooms and high-tech business facilities. Enjoy the stylish spa, where Eastern philosophies meet Western techniques. Savor international dishes or Cantonese cuisine at five restaurants or relax over specialty teas and exotic cocktails.

This is not a great location for sightseeing, particularly the pandas, which are far away, but the nearby metro is fast and easy.

Book an Executive Club room and get complimentary access to the InterContinental Chengdu Club lounge. InterContinental club lounges are always excellent, usually offering great views, extensive breakfast with buffet and hot a la carte dishes like eggs benedict and florentine, omelets, and pancakes all made to order, afternoon tea with plates of cakes, and evening complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks and canapes and nibbles.

This club lounge is no exception and is excellent and offers great food and excellent views. It’s a huge lounge, and the service is always great here. They call you by name, come by to serve you drinks, make sure your plates are cleaned, etc. The view is from the 5th floor over a pleasant space looking at the Holiday Inn Century City West.

Breakfast is an extensive buffet and excellent quality, but there are no eggs to order. Evening food is particularly decent here, with 3 Hot Food selections, cold cuts, cakes, fruit, and snacks, including biscuits and nuts. Cocktail hour is offered early in the evening.

5. Intercontinental Chengdu Global

InterContinental Chengdu Global Center is located along Tianfu Avenue, just 15km from Shuangliu International Airport, 3km from the South Train Station and Metro Line No. 1 stops right at the main entrance of the New Century Global Center.

This is not a great location for sightseeing, particularly the pandas, which are far away, but the nearby metro is fast and easy.

The hotel is surrounded by the New Century Shopping Center, including a luxury IMAX theatre, luxury branded shops, and game arcades. On the Pathway leading up to the entrance of InterContinental Chengdu Global Center, visitors will be greeted by a 150-meter-diameter musical water fountain.

InterContinental Chengdu Global Center features 990 luxury guest rooms and suites with elegant furniture with local design and contemporary fitting. Each guest room features spacious balconies with a panoramic view of Ocean Park with the coastline. Apart from a 5000 m² indoor beach, a water park replete with a coastal town, a fisherman’s wharf, hot springs, and a spectacular LED backdrop, the hotel is a top choice for families with children.

6. JW Marriott Chengdu

JW Marriott Chengdu is a gorgeous and centrally located with easy access to everywhere. The JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu brings refined style, culturally inspired cuisine, and holistic well-being to southwest China’s largest city square, Tianfu Square.

There is a state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor swimming pool (really smart and up on a high floor), and Spa. The room, lounge, and service are much better than most JWs in North America, with an excellent breakfast in the restaurant. As a general rule, Gold Marriott Bonvoy members get upgraded to top-floor rooms, and Platinum members often get upgraded to a suite.

The lounge here is large and well-appointed and one of the best club lounges in Chengdu. Breakfast has a made-to-order omelet or noodle station with loads of fruits and hot items, which are mainly geared toward Chinese guests rather than Western. The staff here are excellent. Happy Hour offers plenty of food along with the noodle station, with spirits, wine, and beer being decent.

Many guests describe this hotel as “one of the best Marriott experiences” they have had.

7. Fairmont Chengdu

Fairmont Chengdu is another good option for a luxury hotel with a club lounge. Book a Fairmont Gold Room located on the 28th to 31st floors of the hotel, which is spacious 45-50m².

Admire views of the surrounding city from your Fairmont Gold Club Lounge located on the upper floors of the hotel. This room provides exclusive access to the Fairmont Gold Lounge, a hotel within a hotel, to enjoy additional complimentary privileges, including high tea, cocktails, a meeting room, and more Fairmont Gold Privileges.

Complete with elegant decor, a sleek and spacious marble bathroom, a chic walk-in closet, a touch panel-controlled toilet, and a rainforest shower. Guests can enjoy all the comforts of restful sleep.

8. Hilton Chengdu

The Hilton Chengdu also has a club lounge and is a great choice if you are a Hilton Honors member. As a Diamond member, this hotel is generous with upgrades, and you may get upgraded to a suite.

Executive lounge access rooms are on high floors and include a club lounge for breakfast and refreshments. This 40 sq. m. rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows. As they are located on the top floors of the hotel, you’ll enjoy sweeping city views of Chengdu.

The club lounge includes complimentary breakfasts and evening happy hours on the 37th floor, along with coffees, teas, and assorted juices throughout the day. Stay connected with Wi-Fi access or catch up on work at the comfortable desk. The Executive Lounge is very good here with excellent staff.

Pamper yourself in the marble bathroom with a walk-in rain shower, separate soaking tub, and separate powder room with vanity, and rest easy in the king-sized Hilton Serenity Bed with a choice of pillows.

Enjoy complimentary access to Chengdu’s highest indoor swimming pool on the 39th floor and fitness center. Special touches in the room include an espresso machine and Bluetooth-connected stereo system.

9. Marriott Chengdu Marriott Hotel Financial Centre

The Marriott Chengdu Marriott Hotel Financial Centre is a Rewards Category 3 hotel so fairly cheap, whether you book on points or with cash.

Set on prestigious Tianfu Avenue near Chengdu Financial City and its metro station, YinTai Centre, and government agencies, the new Chengdu Marriott Hotel Financial Centre promises an experience as extraordinary as its décor.

The lobby draws you in with its sleek, contemporary lines, natural surfaces, and warm, neutral tones. This chic, modernistic theme extends to spacious guest rooms and suites, where large windows frame sweeping views of the city, and marble bathrooms exude a sense of calm. Dining options are equally impressive, plus there’s a relaxing spa, Mahjong room, fitness center, and indoor pool.

There is a club lounge at this property, and executive rooms feature executive lounge access. Whilst this is not a bad choice, the best Marriotts in Chengdu are the St. Regis and the Ritz-Carlton outlined above.

10. Sheraton Chengdu Lido Hotel

Sheraton Chengdu Lido Hotel is located in the heart of the business district of Chengdu, adjoining Tianfu Square and nearby Chunxi Shopping Street, Kuanzhaixiangzi Alleys, Jinli Ancient Town, Sichuan Province Science & Technology Museum, Sichuan Provincial Library, and Wenshu Monastery.

For transport links, you are in the Metro cross line of No.1 and No.4, with Sheraton Lido Hotel Chengdu only 3 minutes away from D exit of Luomashi Metro station, 10 minutes away from the North Railway Station, and 30 minutes drive from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and New International Convention & Exposition Center of Century City.

Executive rooms include lounge access, open from 6:00 am – 11:00 pm. The club lounge at this Sheraton serves breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres plus wine, beer, and alcohol for a fee.

This is a super cheap Sheraton and only a category 2 Marriott Bonvoy hotel, so it only costs around 12,500 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

11. Renaissance Chengdu Hotel

The Renaissance Chengdu Hotel enjoys incredible city views from their 29th-floor bar and offers the Wanli Restaurant, serving some of the finest Cantonese and Sichuan dishes in town. If you’re visiting on business or pleasure, there are seven club floors that give you access to their club lounge, but this is not one of our top picks because it is not desperately luxurious and more of a business hotel.
