If staying in a castle is your ultimate luxury travel dream, you’ll love this stunning boutique hotel located in Maslinica on the west coast of the Island of Šolta, Croatia. By the sparkling teal waters of the Adriatic and a brand new marina, the surrounding area boasts an unspoiled landscape full of olive groves, charming fishing villages with stone houses, and beautiful, panoramic views.

British Airways and Croatia Airlines offer flights to Split from Heathrow, while EasyJet and Thomson Airways fly from Gatwick. From Split, take a taxi to Trogir and then travel in style with the hotel’s own yacht from Trogir to Maslinica.

Style & Character

Built in the early 1700s to defend the local area from attack by pirates, the castle has had a long and interesting history. Now, it’s a beautiful boutique hotel packed with character. With just six suites, guests can enjoy plenty of space and the feeling of having a whole castle almost entirely to themselves. There is also a restaurant, heated swimming pool, sauna and steam bath, a large garden, spacious lounge area, and relaxation room with a piano.

Rooms

Each suite at the Martinis Marchi is named after someone connected to the castle or its builder, and each is very spacious, with some spanning several floors. All unique in design, the suites are furnished with antiques from all over Europe that have been lovingly restored. However, all the modern luxuries are provided, with air conditioning, satellite LCD TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, minibar, safe, and telephone standard. Each room has a glass-fitted bathroom with marble floors and a separate walk-in shower cubicle, as well as custom linen, bedding, and bathrobes, down comforters and pillows and artisanal bed throws. Each room boasts lovely views of the pool area, the sea, or both. Room Tip – The family suite best suits parents with younger children rather than four adults.

Service & Facilities

The large heated pool and attractive sun terrace that allows guests to relax and unwind. Of course, with only seven suites available to book at Martinis Marchi, there’s no danger of the area becoming crowded. There is also a sauna and steam room to take advantage of and extensive gardens to enjoy. Beyond the hotel, the local area is very picturesque and, as yet, quite unspoiled by tourism, so well worth exploring. The hotel offers day trips to visit local olive groves and honey producers, taking in some beautiful scenery. You can also take a boat trip to the historic city of Split or the popular island of Hvar with its smart bars and lovely beaches. If you’re into sailing, you can also charter a boat from the hotel to visit nearby islands and beauty spots.

Food & Drink

With a beautiful terrace overlooking the boats in the marina, the restaurant at Martinis Marchi is the perfect place to while away a warm summer’s evening with some good food and wine, accompanied by glorious sunsets and sometimes live music well. Serving traditional Dalmatian fish specialties and fine wines from the castle’s cellar, it also offers a real taste of the local area and Haute Mediterranean cuisine.

The restaurants situated in the surrounding hillsides are well worth seeking out during your stay. Both the seafood and sunset views are exceptional!

Conclusion

Hotel Martinis Marchi offers the chance to stay in a real-life castle in a beautiful and unspoiled Adriatic location. Prices start at around €250 EUR for a low-season stay.
