Book A Stay

I love spending time beside the water, and the luxury hotel, the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Maryland is perfectly positioned for watching waves lapping at the shore, glistening under beautiful red sunsets. Maryland is known for its abundant waterways and beautiful coastlines.

Location

Situated on the banks of the Choptank River, this 400-acre resort in Cambridge, Maryland, offers spacious guestrooms, numerous dining options, great service, and more entertainment than you can possibly cram into a week’s holiday.

Style & Character

Bordering Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic, Maryland is ideal for a relaxing coastal escape, not forgetting the delicious must-try Maryland Blue crabs that are a culinary delight in this area! A great resort to stay at, ideally situated right on the water, is the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa, and Marina.

This resort is quite unusual because it’s just as much geared for groups and couples as it is for families, and somehow it seems to cater brilliantly to all – including business travelers too.

Rooms

This large and welcoming resort boasts 400 spacious guestrooms decorated with a subtle nautical feel in hues of blue and grey with watery waves and wooden touches to reflect the area’s seafaring heritage. Some rooms offer a private walk-out balcony and gorgeous views over the marina, pool, or majestic Choptank River. There are three main room levels to choose between. Standard, Regency Club, and Suites. The spacious Standard Rooms come with a king-size or two double beds, a work area, and sweeping resort views (or vistas of the marina and river if you upgrade to a ‘View Room’).

Regency Club Rooms (again with king or two double beds) all have waterfront views and are located on the very top floor of the hotel. Regency Club guests benefit from access to the Club Lounge with a crackling fireplace (in colder months), large flat-screen TV, and views over the water. The lounge provides complimentary continental breakfast, snacks, beverages throughout the day, light hors d’oeuvres and desserts in the evening (note: sometimes alcoholic beverages are included in Club Lounges, but this is not the case here, but you can purchase them in the lounge from 5:00 pm).

The Waterview King Petite Suite offers sweeping resort or waterfront views and a spacious separate sitting area, bedroom area, and balcony. The largest and most impressive of the Suites is the Chesapeake Suite overlooking Chesapeake Bay, which has a more cosmopolitan feel and décor and comprises a balcony, living room with dining table, full bathroom, and either one or two guest bedrooms.

All guestrooms feature signature Hyatt Grand Beds with pillow top mattresses, luxurious linens, designer bedding, air-conditioning, and ceiling fans, flat-screen cable/satellite TV, safe, mini fridge, coffeemaker, high-speed internet access, and complimentary morning newspaper. The bathrooms feature robes, marble baths, vanity mirrors, and the usual amenities (additional rollaway beds and children’s cots are available on request). Room Tip: If you are after a peaceful night’s sleep, avoid ground-floor rooms and rooms near the center of the hotel. If you can, choose a waterfront view room on the fourth floor or above.

Service & Facilities

As its name suggests, the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa, and Marina offers great golfing and wonderfully indulgent spa treatments, all in a lively waterfront marina setting. During your stay, abundant activities entertain children and adults alike. Why not take your clubs and play 18 holes at the River Marsh Golf Club, the championship course designed by Keith Foster? If golf isn’t your thing, the resort also offers tennis courts, temperature-controlled indoor or outdoor pools (the infinity pool overlooking the bay is beautiful), a fitness center, beach volleyball, and Frisbee Golf.

A feature of this large resort is the 150-slip River Marsh Marina which offers guests a variety of activities, including sailing trips, waterside dining, and shopping. The nearby Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is great for canoeing, cycling, and hiking or why not take to the water and go fishing or cruising around the Choptank River?

You can also spend a day skydiving, hunting, or sailing for those looking to get their adrenaline flowing. If you want something a little more sedate and tranquil, the Sago Spa and Salon at the hotel offers rejuvenating facials and relaxing body treatments in its 13 treatment rooms. If you venture into downtown Cambridge, you will also discover local art galleries, shops, and great restaurants – plenty of good seafood ones. Ask the hotel for recommendations.

Food & Drink

There are no less than six restaurants and lounges at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa, and Marina, including the Water’s Edge Grill offering outstanding regional specialties; Blue Point Provision serving delicious seafood specialties; Eagles Nest Bar & Grille situated at the River Marsh Golf Club overlooking the greens, the spectacular lobby lounge: Michener’s Library, combining a two-story glass wall bordered by stone fireplaces and Dock’s Poolside which offers drinks and snacks by the pool. If resort prices are a little too much for every day, then a short trip into Cambridge will provide plenty of other dining options for you to try.

Conclusion

So if you’re looking for a luxury and relaxing waterside resort to travel to, with great service, spacious accommodation, sunsets, and copious amounts of delicious seafood, then I can assure you, you need to look no further.
