Sandat Glamping Tents are the love child of their Italian owners, Federico Carrer and Emanuela Padoan. This low-key eco-resort is built by local craftsmen and is set between jungle and rice fields in a beautifully maintained lush garden with a foresty feel.
Location
Ubud is just 10 minutes away by free shuttle, where you can visit the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, have a massage, or eat at one of the many excellent restaurants. Sandat Glamping Tents also sits about an hour from the capital, Denpasar.
Style & Character
Arrival at Sandat Glamping Tents is by a bumpy Jeep ride down a dirt track. Park up and approach the resort via a jungle path surrounded by greenery. Buddha looks over you as you enter through the gates, and you are met by a large vaulted bamboo structure containing the restaurant and reception. This is surrounded by five safari tents and three lumbungs which are traditional thatched cottages.
Rooms
If you choose to book uber-luxurious tents, you will really feel (and hear!) nature all around you. The jungle comes alive at night so if you are a light sleeper, bring your earplugs! The tent itself can only be described as amazing. Be warned about toilet privacy as this is, after all, a tent, so there’s only a curtain separating the bathroom from the living area. The beds and bathrooms are deeply stylish, and although there are no TVs, Wi-Fi coverage is excellent. The tents and lumbungs all offer an individual pool and veranda with complete privacy, your very own slice of jungle luxury.
Service & Facilities
Find your inner peace here, as you will not be pestered by beach touts or yoga instructors. You can literally do nothing. And when you get too hot doing nothing, it is nice to have your own private plunge pool to take a cooling dip. Sandat Glamping Tents are a unique and glamorous way to camp.
